BIKERS PREPARE FOR ANNUAL RIDE THROUGH DOWNTOWN STARTING LOCATION IS CHANGED FROM SCNA EVENTS IN JUNE 2013 LAST YEAR Saturday June 8, Noon - 5:00 pm This is not an SCNA-sponsored event, but many members Annual World Naked Bike Ride, downtown LA enjoy participating in this annual 10-mile ride through the Saturday June 15, Noon – 7 pm heart of Los Angeles, where clothing is optional during the Pool Party, West Hills two and a half hours it takes to complete the course. FIESTA PARTY LIVES UP TO ITS NAME Saturday, May 11 – The theme for our party each May is Viva Fiesta, and members certainly rose to the occasion this year with some amazing Mexican dishes for us to enjoy. The pot luck included some excellent homemade dishes, from enchiladas and chili relleno to tacos to fruit salad, it was all good! I give a special mention to Melanie, who cooked up a potato salad that had a special delayed kick to it. The brownies, apple pie, and turnovers completed the feast. Thanks to all who contributed. And let us not forget the sunshine! May is notorious for gray skies over LA but not this day. The sky was clear and bright, and many spent the afternoon laying out on the lawn working on their new tans. Mike brought out his "Catch Phrase" game, and Rolf brought his “Cards Against Humanity,” another favorite. Afterwards, Akila brought out her homemade sheet cakes so the club could celebrate the birthdays of both Tim and Ricc. Visiting the party were Melanie and Nathan, a couple of NEW MEET-UP LOCATION journalism students from CSUN who interviewed members for a school project. They said they were quite impressed with the OPENS IN CARPINTERIA number of people who came (nearly 3 dozen) as well Beginning June 18, and every third Tuesday of the month thereafter, SCNA is expanding north with a new monthly dinner meeting in Carpinteria for its Friends of Bates Beach (FOBB) division. This new location is the Best Western Carpinteria Inn at 4558 Carpinteria Ave, Carpinteria 93013, about a quarter-mile west of Linden Ave. on the north side of the street adjacent to the 101 Freeway. Directions may be found on page 7. FOBB will host the dinner meeting starting at 6:45PM to about 8:30PM. The meeting is in a second floor meeting area (just to the right of the elevators) with a huge picture window overlooking the atrium gardens below. The hotel serves “restaurant-style” meals ($10-$15), but sandwiches, salads, and appetizers in the $6-9 range are also available. While all Meetup meetings serve as a great introduction to those curious about nude recreation, this Carpinteria meeting will mostly focus on the status of nude recreation in Santa Barbara county and protecting the existing beaches there. In honor of their anniversary, certain menu items had 1970’s prices! If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Twohey’s (Huntington Drive at Atlantic Blvd.) for a great meal! MEMBERS ENJOYS ANNUAL PIRATES PARTY AT OLIVE DELL By Tim Doggett 05/25/13 - Memorial Day weekend once again saw several members of the Southern California Naturist Association in SCNA AND OLYMPIANS VISIT attendance to eat some ribs and enjoy the day at the resort. The morning entertainment included piratey games and a dunk HUNTINGTON LIBRARY tank for raising funds for the youth programs at the club.
