  • JO DEE MESSINA BIO Jo Dee Messina Is
JO DEE MESSINA BIO Jo Dee Messina is an award‐winning, multi‐platinum recording artist that has given her heart and soul to find success. She’s had 9 #1 singles, has been honored by The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and The Grammy Awards and was the first female country artist to score three multiple‐week #1 songs from the same album. But success aside, Jo Dee has faced more than her fair share of adversity. She’s battled some demons along the way and experienced the twists and turns that define all of our lives. If anything these life experiences have re‐invigorated her and given her a new perspective, which in turn has produced, in her words, her truest recording to date. Delicious Surprise is Jo Dee’s 4th studio album. It is that rare recording that captures the true essence of an artist’s soul. You see, rather then talk about what has occurred in her life, Jo Dee has chosen to sing about it. She’s put together a group of songs that come from her heart, a group of songs that are meant to convey a musical message of optimism, strength and hope. As the songs say, while life’s experiences may be hard, it’s those experiences that make us who we are and make life worth living. The 12‐track album, co‐produced by Jo Dee, Byron Gallimore and Mark Bright, features five songs that were either written or co‐written by her. “It Gets Better” shares an optimistic message of hope from a woman that has “felt the chill of this world and come face to face with the devil,” written entirely by Jo Dee, which also shows the power and finesse of one of country music’s finest voices.

June 16, 2008 Issue 94 How’s Your Gold Powered? Owen Accepts NAB Honor For Country Cares Perhaps the best time to find finely tuned and pruned Power Gold categories is during the spring book, when the results of all those Auditorium Music Tests are in place. Panning for bullion, we dug into Mediabase to find the shiniest nuggets from three eras -- 2000-2006, 1994-1999 and 1980’s-1993. We do so with the caveat that everyone separates the PG from Recurrents a little differently. For our purposes, we (pretty much) call everything that peaked on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart prior to Jan. 2007 as Gold – with the top performers getting the PG designation. Here are the Top 10 for each era – and you can mine the remaining Top 50 for each period on Page 6. Power Gold 2000-2006 1. KEITH URBAN/Somebody Like You 2. RASCAL FLATTS/Life Is A Highway 3. S nger Songwri ter SHOWCASE BIOS NOVEMBER 12 @ 8:00 P.M. CST Every Scooter Carusoe song is a beautiful ambush. His genius sneaks up on you: you’re humming along to a melody you can’t get out of your head long before you realize there are layers to unpack and lines worth serious study. Travis Hill “Scooter Carusoe” has lived and worked in the Nashville music community for two decades. He was a cofounder of independent music publisher Carnival Music and now writes for Endurance/BMG Music. Between publishing and song writing he has twenty plus number one songs to his credit and was nominated for the 2018 CMA song of the year with “Drunk Girl.” His songs have been performed on The Grammy’s, CMA’s, ACM’s and received multiple NSAI, ASCAP and SESAC awards. His works have been recorded by Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Uncle Kracker, Dierks Bentley, Sugarland, Chris Janson, Brett Eldredge, Gary Allan, Jordan Davis, Montgomery Gentry, Pat Green, Chase Rice, Eli Young Band, Darius Rucker, David Nail and more. Today, the North Carolina-born, Knoxville, Tennessee-raised Hill lives in Nashville with his wife and two sons. Yes, Carusoe is a pen name, but his insistence on using it reveals a lot about who he really is stubborn and Scooter Carusoe inspiring, always fighting to keep the focus where it should be–the song. Marv Green, a Southern California native, moved to Nashville in March of 1993. Within 6 months, Marv’s songwriting caught the attention of producer Scott Hendricks, who signed Marv to a publishing deal with Big Tractor and Warner Chappell music.
