The wins included two road upsets as then-unranked CALIFORNIA defeated then-No. 8 Louisville and OREGON upended then-No. 22 North Carolina ... A couple of top-25 squads visit Pac-12 campuses this week. No. 15/10 STANFORD hosts George Washington on Saturday and 2015 NCAA Women’s Final Four participant and second-ranked South Carolina travels to UCLA on Sunday on Pac-12 LA. COLORADO also has a big test on Sunday, traveling to No. 13 Kentucky ... The Golden Bears entered the polls after the big upset, earning a No. 21 ranking in the Associated Press and USA Today/WBCA Coaches polls. OREGON STATE is the highest-ranked Conference team, moving up to No. 9 and 7 after making its first-ever top-10 preseason appearance. No. 18/18 ARIZONA STATE and the Cardinal round out the Pac-12 teams in the polling. UCLA and the Ducks are receiving votes in both polls ...     Five players added to list of 'Wade Watch' hopefuls ATLANTA (Feb. 24, 2015) – The Wade Trophy Committee has added five additional student-athletes to the 2014-15 “Wade Watch” list, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), on behalf of the Wade Trophy Coalition, announced today. Joining the preseason list of 25 “Wade Watch” hopefuls are Ameryst Alston of Ohio State, Chastity Gooch of Western Kentucky, Niya Johnson of Baylor, Courtney Williams of South Florida and Amanda Zahui B. of Minnesota. The Wade Trophy Coalition presents The Wade Trophy to the nation’s most outstanding NCAA® Division I women’s basketball player each year – one who not only excels athletically, but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court. The acclaimed Wade Watch list, from which The Wade Trophy recipient is chosen, consists of players selected on the basis of game and season statistics, leadership, character, overall playing ability and the positive impact on her respective team. California, Connecticut, South Carolina and Tennessee each have two players on the list. Now in its 38th year, The Wade Trophy is named in honor of the late, legendary Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade. During her six seasons as head coach, Wade won three consecutive national championships with the Lady Statesmen and recorded a career record of 157-23.
