SALEM HILLS HIGH SCHOOL “Skyhawk Happenings” September 21, 2020 WEARING THE MASK Students please remember to wear your mask! It is so important that you remember to bring your mask to school, wear your mask correctly (over the nose & mouth), and try to social distance when possible. We encourage ALL to wear your masks while at sporting events, school activities, and anytime you come into the school! We have students who are repeatedly asking for a mask from the front office, so parents, please encourage your student to pack a mask! SCHOLARSHIP Information Southern Utah University and Snow College have changed their scholarship matrix. They are no longer requiring an ACT score. Scholarships are offered and distributed on a first come first serve basis, so make sure to apply and send transcripts as soon as possible. If you have any further questions, contact your counselor. If you have additional questions email [email protected] PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE Our first Parent/Teacher Conference will be held on Wednesday, September 23 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. For the past few years we have reserved the first 2 hours of parent-teacher conference time for students to work with teachers. We will continue this approach this year. We are going to try something new this year for the remaining part of parent-teacher conferences. In order to do our best to protect everyone during our current pandemic, we would like to limit the number of in person contacts. Perhaps the easiest way to do this would be to ask parents to only come to the school to visit with teachers if your child has a C or lower in any of their classes, or if there is an underlying condition or situation that would best be addressed through a personal visit. Otherwise, we would ask you to communicate with teachers through email. Teachers will be able to do Zoom meetings and correspond with parents through phone calls as well if needed. Let your student’s teacher know what works best for you and your situation. Our amazing PTSA is going to provide a light dinner for our teachers from 5:00-5:30, so they will not be in their rooms during this time. However, our counselors will provide training on I-campus for those interested while our teachers are eating. This training information should help parents and teachers to be able to better communicate, remain safe, and help improve learning. AP EXAM REGISTRATION Online registration for the 2021 AP Exams is now open! The AP Exam registration process has two steps. BOTH STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO HAVE AN AP EXAM ORDERED.
