These vines add complexity and structure to the younger and intensely aromatic Viognier and Chardonnay blocks, which are planted in more alluvial soils lower in the valley. This fresh and crisp fruit is light-bodied and with a pale lime colour. On the nose, there are tropical aromas of guava and passionfruit balanced with floral notes. On the palate, you enjoy an array of peach, kiwi fruit and apple flavours along with hints of orange blossom. Food Matches: Perfect with seafood paella or risotto and fragrant curries.

Case: Classic Red, Premium Red, Classic Mixed, Premium Mixed Region: Stellenbosch, South Africa Grape: 67% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc Price: £12.95 Serves at: 14 – 16.5°C Description: From one of the most revered estates in Stellenbosch, Hannes Myburgh is the eighth generation custodian of this seventeenth-century national monument. The first owner of the property, a German immigrant named Henning Huising, recognised the beauty and potential of the farm and settled here in 1693. He named his new-found home "Meerlust", meaning "pleasure of the sea". This dark purple coloured vivacious wine with cassis, exotic spice and floral aromas will not fail to impress. Food Matches: Pair this wine with venison, game, beef or lamb.

An intense aromatic blend of bramble fruit and complex smoky notes. The palate is beautifully balanced with dark fruit, violets and white pepper. A luxurious wine with a persistent aftertaste. The Babylon’s Peak wines have a vivid purity, an almost crystalline concentration that belies Swartlands hot climate just as the prices defy its hype. A lovely fruity wine with aromas of cassis and plums and a complex palate of dark chocolate and blackberries. This red provides a long and fragrant finish. 10 Deakins Estate – Shiraz / Viognier 2018

Case: Classic Red, Premium Red, Classic Mixed, Premium Mixed Region: Murray Darling, Victoria, Australia Grape: 95% Shiraz, 5% Viognier Price: £13.50 Serves at: 14 – 16.5°C Description: Deakin Estate is a substantial family-owned vineyard and winery located in the Mildura region of north-west Victoria. The property was purchased in 1967 and named in honour of Alfred Deakin, a former Australian Prime Minister who pioneered irrigation in this arid region. As with many New World wines, they have taken inspiration from the Old World with their wine making – this wine can therefore be described as a mock Cote Rotie from the Northern Rhône. An elegant and rich red with flavours of rich black cherry, plum, spice and vanilla oak. There are sweet spices and floral tones on the nose. This wine provides a smooth and fruit-driven palate with a hint of pepper. Food Matches: Pair with roast beef and Yorkshire pudding or alternatively accompany with spicy noodle dishes.
