    FFiiqqhh ((LLaawwss)) Book 7 Lesson 1 Saláh Types of Wājib Salāh There are six types of wājib salāh: 1. The Five Daily Salāh. 2. Salāt al-Ayāt. 3. Salāt al-Mayyit (taught in Book 10). 4. Two Rak’ah Salāh after Wājib Tawāf of Ka’bah (taught in Book 10). 5. Compensation (qadā) salāh of a dead man that is wājib on the eldest son. 6. Salāh that becomes wājib due to an oath (nadhr, ‘ahd, qasam) or if one is paid to pray the qadā for someone deceased (as niyābah). Note: Salāt al-Jumu’ah (Friday prayer) is counted as part of the five daily prayers because it is prayed instead of Salāt adh-Dhuhr on Fridays. Mustahab (nāfila) prayers are studied in Book 9. The importance of salāh and not to take it lightly can be reviewed from Book 5 (Akhlāq Lesson 7). The Compensatory Prayer (Salāt al-Qadā) Qadā salāh is performed in compensation for a salāh that has not been performed during its proper time. It is wājib to make up all those prayers that have been missed for whatever reason, except for bāligha women who are excused from salāh at certain times of the month (which will be taught to the girls separately). Those who suffer from mental illness do not have to pray salāh. Also, a non-Muslim who becomes a Muslim does not have to pay qadā for the time before he or she became a Muslim. But if a Muslim loses his faith for a duration and then returns to Islām, he or she must make up for all the missed prayers.

    Virtues of Hajj (Pilgrimage to Makkah) Author's Foreword In the past I have written a few booklets on Tablighi topics and, completely against expectations the response to these booklets have been so encouraging that I have been so surprised that many friends have found them to be beneficial. In my own humbleness, I never dreamt that so much benefit could have been derived from the words and pen of one who himself is not able to practice all that is preached. The reason for these benefits to others I can only attribute to the special help of my late uncle Maulana Muhammad Ilyas (May Allah be please with him) who has not only become known in every corner of India but all over the Islamic world as well, for his Tablighi missionary activities. Because of the loss or inspiration from him due to his death, I discontinued these series for four years, which should not have been done. The late Maulana encouraged me in his last days to compile two further books in the series. Firstly he desired a book on the virtues of business dealings and earning ones livelihood. A concise version of this was quickly produced by me for his perusal during his last days. Unfortunately, as a result of his grave illness, he could not read it. Secondly, he insisted on a book by me on 'Spending in the Way of Allah.' For the preparation of this latter booklet, Maulana time and again reminded me. I remember once when we were about to join Salaat behind an Imam after Takbeer just before Salaat had started, he said to me: "Do not forget the book." In spite of that, no chance has yet presented itself for writing of such a book.

    JIHAD MENURUT IBN KATHĪR DI DALAM TAFSĪR AL-QUR’ĀN AL-‘AẒĪM Anggi Wahyu Ari1 Abstrak Ini adalah penelitian tentang isu yang sensitif (Jihad) dilihat dari sudut pandang Ibn Kathir sebagai seorang ulama yang memakai metodologi tradisional-klasik di dalam penafsirannya. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa ketika ayat-ayat jihad di dalam Alquran bi al-ma’thur ditafsirkan dengan cara periwayatan ( ) ia tidak akan memiliki makna yang cenderung kepada kekerasan dan doktrin. Penelitian ini membantah pendapat orientalis seperti H.TH Obbrink dan Martin Van Creveld yang menyatakan bahwa ajaran jihad di dalam Islam merupakan perang suci yang bertujuan untuk membunuh orang-orang kafir, sehingga Islam memberikan hak kepada umatnya untuk membunuh penduduk kafir yang ditaklukinya apabila mereka menolak masuk Islam. pendapat ini senada dengan pendapat Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyah dan Sayyid Qutb. Sebaliknya penelitian ini mendukung pendapat para pakar seperti Jerald F Diks, Abdul Karim Zaidan, dan Abdul Maqsith Ghazali yang menyatakan bahwa Islam tidak disebarkan melalui perperangan, dan perang dalam Islam bersifat sangat kondisional. Kata Kunci : Jihad, Ibn Katsir, Perang Suci, Al-Qur’an Pendahuluan Istilah jihad merupakan istilah yang amat popular dalam kurun waktu yang cukup panjang, lebih-lebih pasca runtuhnya WTC (World Trade Center) dan meletusnya aksi terorisme di berbagai tempat. Waliy> in the fiqh study In terms of fiqh, the word of "waliy> " has an meaning the person who according to the law (religious, traditional) obligations entrusted to attend to orphans, before the child is an adult; parties which represent a bride at the time married (is doing the ceremony with the groom).1 1. Waliy> in marriage a. Definition of waliy> and its position in marriage In marriage, the word of waliy> is a person who acts on behalf of the bride in a marriage ceremony. The existence of waliy> in the marriage ceremony is one thing that must there and will not be valid marriage contract without action of the waliy>. Waliy> was placed as a pillar in marriage according to ulema agreement in principally. But for women who have grown up either widowed or still a virgin, ulema have different idea.

Mahmudul Hassan Centre for University Requirement Courses (CENURC) International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), Bangladesh Abstract The Holy Qur‟an encompasses the comprehensive code for mankind to live a rewarding life in this world, to rescue from the Jahannam and to enter the Jannah in the Hereafter. Īmān, Islām, taqwā, kufr, shirk, and nifāq are, the six significant terms, used in the Noble Qur‟an frequently. All of them represent the characteristics of human beings. The possessors of these characters will go to their eternal destination; the Jannah or Jahannam. The Jannah is the aftermath of īmān, Islam and taqwā. On the other hand, kufr, shirk, and nifāq lead to the Jahannam. This study intends to present the definitions and examples of these six terms according to the Qur‟anic statement, and then shed light on the impact of each character on human life quoting the evidence from the Holy Qur‟an and the Traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The possessors of these six remarkable terms are entitled successively as mu'min, muslim, muttaqī to be rewarded Jannah and kafīr, mushrik, and munāfiq to be punished in Jahannam.
