Minutes of the 173th Annual General Mee9ng .. Maers Arising 0. Chairman8s Report 4. 2resenta9on of Financial Accounts and Balance Sheets For the Financial -ear ending November .010 5. 1lec9on of O;cers and Commiee for the coming year 3. Report on the Harry Brown Memorial Trust Secretary’s Report The past season benefied from beer weather than we have had for a few seasons and this re=ected in more games completed across all the teams. The first team welcomed the return of Ross Brown as captain, Usman Arshad as 2ro and Dan- ny Counsell bac playing first team cric et on a full 9me basis. They also welcomed Jac Wainman to ta e over the wic et ta ing du9es from just before halfway through the season. 01 diAerent people actually represented the first team throughout the season and it was very di;cult to get a consistent team out each wee . Unfortunately, this resulted in very incon- sistent performances, the team managing only four victories in the season including doing the double over Horwich. However, there were some real commied performances at 9mes with veterans 2aul Ray- ment and Mi e Ward leading the way on the baBng front and Craig Massey and Danny Con- sell baling away on the bowling front. A highlight of the season was the opportunity to introduce some of our talented juniors to the first team set up with Josh Fallows, Will Shuleworth and Jonathan Birchall performing admirably. I8m sure they will see out further first team opportuni9es on .014 to aid their development. We finished the season with a few close games which didn8t go our way, which meant the league table could and probably should have loo ed a lot diAerent at the end of the season. We wish to than all the players for their hard wor on and oA the field throughout the sea- son. Also a big than s to Richard, Harry and Kian who did a great job in the score box. With season .014 approaching We8re sure that our younger players will use the experience they have gained this past season to find the consistency needed to succeed at first team level. For the first team to improve their results in .014, determina9on, desire and passion to succeed for 1agley will be needed. We8re sure with our new pro, baBng oA spinner Agha Salman, a few new faces and some soul searching, there is no reason why the first team can8t improve. We would li e to than Usman Arshad for his eAorts throughtout the club in his two years as our professional and we wish him all the best for his cric et future. For the seconds it was another season that held so much promise but leE us empty handed at the end. Some very good bowling performances at some 9me by Andy Cumberbatch, Mar Howarth and John Whipp, Brent Richards, plus our two young spinners F Josh fallows and Will Shuleworth set up good wins in both the league and the lead up to the Birtwistle Cup final. In the final our mostly dependable baBng order failed in its8 chase of the 174 posted by Horwich leaving us at 0 F . aEer the first over and 05 F 3 aEer ten, I thin by the final some bodies had had enough due to injuries etc. In the league unfortunately crucial matches were lost due to players being unavailable or draEed into the first team. This was more evident in the second half of the season when in one match we fielded 0 under 15 and . under 10 players. They did not let us down showing much promise for the future. It has to be men9oned that James Richards first ball in senior cric et earned him his first wic et, cric et is an easy game, some9mes. In the same match a wic et was ta en bowled Brent Richards caught James Richards the future loo s bright with all our juniors maturing. Aiden Flood also showed that he can perform at senior level when he was as ed to open the bowling, good to see confident young lads. Highlights of the season were F Ja e O8Bryne8s 98 not out, Andy Cumberbatch8s hat tric against Bradshaw and Will Shuleworth8s first senior 50 against Dearsley. This was bac ed up by the dependable Dave Shuleworth with his runs and catches. Some of the players will move up to the first team in .014. Whilst we will be hoping some players join us for a consistent challenge on the league, We have heard that Brent wants to win it again before hanging up his boots, the last 9me was in 1980 as a youthful 18 year old under Greg Salt. I am sure with a bit of maths we can now wor out his ageG Over the next 5 F 10 years we should see the senior teams get stronger and more compe9- 9ve as our juniors move through the ran s, a blue print that started 7 years ago and will gradually see some of our young faces become stars of the future and show why people want to stay and play at 1agley despite the pull of other teams. ,ong live 1agley. It is good that year on year we con9nue to ma e progress in our junior sec9on and .010 was no diAerent. Although none of our teams were involved in finals or challenged directly for the league we competed with the other top clubs and .014 will definitely be a year when we will be very strong in under 118s, 108s and 158s. The under 158s had a good season and finished 3 th in the league and cup finalists, a fantas9c achievement considering that most of the team were under 108s. The team will be much the same this year with most of the lads playing in their own age group so we should see an im- provement in the league posi9on. The under 108s also had a great season, finishing 0 rd in the league only losing two matches. There were strong performances from all the lads with bat and ball. We had four boys repre- sent 1agley in the inter league team, James Richards, James Fallows, Jac 2hillips and ,ouis Seigne puBng in top performances. Congratula9ons go to ,ouis Seigne for winning the league wic et eeping priHe and Josh Manoc for winning the league catching priHe. The under 118s were in a development year and we had fourteen boys and girls contribute throughout the season. Again .014 will see this development progress into a very inter- es9ng year for the boys and girls. Congratula9ons to the under 118s for reaching the final of the Bolton cric et indoor compe9- 9on in January and February .014 which is a sign of things to come. Well done to Marcus Jac son, 1than ,iddle and Harry O8Rour e for represen9ng Bolton at District. We would li e to than all the players and especially the parents for their support at both the cric et and social events. -ou have contributed much to the future of the club. Again we must than the managers and coaches for their commitment F Usman, Dave, Dan- ny, Mi e, Ross, Brent, Choo , 2aul, GaH and Malcolm, we salute you. We hope to have several social events during the season and hope you will support as many as you can. Our finances are in a much healthier posi9on than last year due to some very ind dona9ons but as elsewhere 9mes are hard so any ideas for fundraising or sponsorship, especially a main sponsor, would be appreciated. The commiee is s9ll thin on the ground at the moment so anyone who wishes to join us will be most welcome. We have a lot to loo forward to in the next year but also a lot of challenges so we will all need to wor together for the common good. ,ets8 hope we can improve our first and sec- ond teams results this coming season and con9nue to have a successful junior sec9on. Carol Wilcox/Elaine Powers - Secretaries Eagley CC Treasurer’s Report 2013 The financial situa9on of the Cric et Sec9on has improved by around I0.00 during the year and we now have a small financial Jcushion8 that we should loo to preserve The improvement is largely due to a very good summer leading to the Friday Night revenue being maximised, our scorer8s foregoing their expenses, the Birtwistle Cup and some excep- 9onally generous anonymous dona9ons which, literally, saved the day.
