Marshall will be the first UA athlete to play in the game, and one of only two MAC athletes, the other being Ohio University’s D.J. Cooper. Marshall finishes his Akron career as the all-time leader in blocked shots with 368. The All-Star game will be played at 5 p.m. today at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The game is composed of 22 senior student-athletes from NCAA Division I programs across the nation. Track and field The University of Akron track and field team is ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region, ahead of programs such as Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Purdue. The Zips carry a number of nationally ranked athletes, such as No. 2-ranked pole vaulter Shawn Barber, No. 10-ranked 800 runner Gabriel Genovesi and multi-event athletes Alex McCune and Bryan Jones, ranked No. 8 and No. 9 in the decathlon, respectively. The women’s team has also fared well thus far, ranked No. 4 in the region. Lacrosse Archbishop Hoban High School will host the inaugural Midwest Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Challenge on Saturday. Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Michigan and Michigan State will play four games, beginning at 10:30 a.m. -
