Praise for Prayer Revolution This book goes for the heart! It also goes quickly, yet deeply, into the real issues facing the church in this critical area of prayer. John Smed has uniquely identified the problems facing the contemporary church, but he also brings biblical ideas and truth so that we journeymen will have a workable tool we be adapt to any group or church.     Prayer Journal March 2019 March 2019 Dear Southside Family, Welcome to Practicing God’s Presence in Prayer! This Journal has been prayerfully prepared to assist you and your family on the journey. There are 5 daily lessons for each of the three weeks (I think that still equals 15!). You can do them individually, with your spouse or as a family. You’ll need your Bible, a pen (or favorite electronic device) and a heart to find out more about prayer. If these truths are discovered, understood and applied, our prayer lives can be transformed, our spiritual growth can be accelerated and our lives and relationships changed! God is speaking. He desires to be more than a part of our life – He is life itself. May we learn how we can regularly, intentionally remain in His presence throughout the day through an attitude of prayer. Each day, read the suggested Bible passages and answer the questions. Use the KidConnect Corner with your kids or grandkids. Space has been given for you to record your thoughts and impressions from the Lord each day. Customize the content and make this fit for you and your family. Each day’s lesson will take about 20 minutes. Our goal is to become stronger in our walk with God by developing healthy spiritual habits. Don’t be overwhelmed. Take the Practicing God’s Presence in Prayer experience one day at a time! If you miss a day or two, don’t panic! Make them up when you have the opportunity. It’s my hope and intent that our whole Southside family (children, youth and adults) will be discussing the topics in KidConnect, Home Groups, the Sunday morning messages and in our homes.

    A Few More Bullseyes for Joseph Smith from Ancient Christian Writings A summary of a few incredible Temple related “coincidences” Excerpts compiled by Cameron Ford This document contains quotes from a book called “The Temple in Time and Eternity” edited by Donald W. Parry and Stephen D. Ricks. The book is a compilation of different chapters written by various authors. To fully understand what is presented, a few definitions are helpful, as given below: Gnosticism: A movement among some 2nd century Christians that took elements of the original Christian church and created some doctrinal innovations. This movement was suppressed by the main Christian churches of the day and many of the gnostic documents were destroyed. Because of the loss of many genuine Christian doctrines and teachings in the first centuries, it is often hard for biblical scholars to determine what doctrines the Gnostics inherited from the earliest Christians and what doctrines they added. “Gnosis” means knowledge of spiritual mysteries. Some of the core teachings [doctrinal innovations of the Gnostics] include the following: 1. All matter is evil, and the non-material, spirit-realm is good. 2. There is an unknowable God, who gave rise to many lesser spirit beings called Aeons. 3. The creator of the (material) universe is not the supreme god, but an inferior spirit (the Demiurge). 4. Gnosticism does not deal with "sin," only ignorance. 5. The story line of the movie is of a couple struggling in their marriage and careers and how the power of prayer totally changes their lives in miraculous ways. Many of you have seen this movie and have been blessed by the strong reminder of the power and effectiveness of a prayerful life. After seeing War Room with my family just over a month ago, I have felt a fresh power, passion, and sense of effectiveness in my prayer life. In fact, we have rearranged three rooms in our house: Elizabeth has started a prayer list on the wall in her closet, Tawna has completely reorganized her closet as a prayer room, and I have started a personal prayer wall in our bedroom closet. Michael Quinri INTRODUCTION IN DECEMBER 1830 THE FOUNDING Mormon prophet Joseph Smith Jr. an- nounced a revelation which established the doctrine of "gathering" the new church's members at a headquarters area: "And again, a command- ment I give unto the church, that it is expedient in me that they should assemble together at the Ohio. ..." (D&C 37: 3). Prior to that date, be- lievers in The Book of Mormon were concentrated in three locations of western New York State: at Manchester /Palmyra (where the Smith fam- ily had lived a dozen years), also at Colesville, and at Fayette. Then from February 1831 to the end of 1837, the church was headquartered in Kirt- land, Ohio (near Cleveland). However, in July 1831 Joseph Smith announced another revelation that Missouri "is the land which I have appointed and consecrated for the gathering of the saints. Wherefore, this is the land of promise, and the place for the city of Zion.. .Behold, the place which is now called In- dependence is the center place...." (D&C 57:1, 3). An 1832 revelation ex- plained: "Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city of New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this 'Full version of the paper presented in abbreviated form at the Sunstone Sympo- sium, Salt Lake City, 3 August 2000.     1 THE PRAYER CIRCLE IN THE MORMON TEMPLE© Also known as the “True Order of Prayer” February 4, 2010 Numerous articles can be found on the Internet describing the entire Mormon temple ceremony. This article will not do that, although references will be made to the general endowment ceremony. It will mainly focus on the Prayer Circle, which is not often discussed. This is a smaller ritual that occurs at the latter part of the endowment ceremony prior to the candidate going through the veil of the temple to enter the Celestial room. This ritual is also known as “The True Order of Prayer.” The focus of this article will be to show that Mormon theology is based on Gnosticism, not Biblical Christianity. On another note, I’ve posted two additional stories at my link, Faith Promoting Stories, and this brings up something new I would like to introduce¾an invitation to submit stories to this site. If any of you have a story about yourself or someone in your family, where something of a faith-promoting nature happened to you or them--or else a fictional story that you have written and feel is inspirational, send it to me. Most Pakistanis I met either loved or hated Zulfi Bhutto, the People’s Party prime minister, who was arrested by his own commander-in-chief General Zia ul-Haq, and hanged after two years in prison.
