Together with the Ice Age Trail Alliance, Ice Age Trail Communities enhance appreciation and awareness of the natural and scenic beauty of the thousand-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Thousands of visitors are drawn to Manitowoc and Two Rivers each year not only to hike the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, but also explore the USS Cobia World War II submarine, tour Rogers Street Fishing Village to view relics of famous shipwrecks, or sail across on the S. S. Badger. From the pristine coastline with stunning parks and beaches and marinas, to historic downtowns and outdoor band concerts, Manitowoc-Two Rivers is a treasure to visit!

POINT BEACH SEGMENT THE CITY OF TWO RIVERS SEGMENT (10 miles) (3 miles) Start at the north end of and This segment invites hikers to investigate the Historic Farm walk over sand dunes created by wave activity. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Beerntsens’s Confectionary in downtown Manitowoc. Worker bees have transformed Chicabee, a small 1950’s home into an awesome shopping destination. Seeds N’ Beans is a local source for nature lovers to find bird houses, feeders, and seeds. Within one historic downtown Two Rivers building, find everything you’re looking for and something you weren’t. The Rivers Marketplace in Two Rivers includes Schroeder’s Department Store, The Apple Toy Shoppe, Red Bank Coffeehouse, Intertwined Yarn Shop, Home Sweet Home Décor, and Gallery & Boutique.

HISTORY & RECREATION

Woodland Dunes Nature Center & Preserve has over 7 miles of hiking open to the public from sunrise to sunset each day of the week. In Two Rivers, visit the Washington House History Museum located on the Ice Age Trail. The ice cream sundae was invented here in 1881 so don’t forget to treat the kids (and yourself) to one. Then, learn about historic fishing techniques at the Rogers Street Fishing Village (closed for the 2020 season). The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is located at the confluence of the Manitowoc River and Lake Michigan in downtown Manitowoc. Visitors can tour a WWII submarine, and explore fantastic interactive exhibits on the maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes.

Contact the Lakeshore Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance, a dedicated group of volunteers who build, maintain, and promote the beautiful segments of the Ice Age Trail from Fond du Lac County to the Eastern Terminus in Sturgeon Bay.
