1. What is the first organism you will find in a food chain? Plants/producers

2. Where does all energycome from? sun

3. Draw a picture of a producer:

4. What comes after the producer in the foodchain? consumers

5. How many levels of consumers are there? three

6. List the three levels of consumers: 1. Primary consumers are also called Hherbivores

2. Secondary consumers are also called C carnivores

3. Tertiary consumers are also called O omnivores

7. What is the last link in the food chain? decomposers

8. What is the job of the decomposer in the food chain? Decomposers break down nutrients and recycle it back into the soil. 9. Draw a picture of a decomposer:

11.What is a food web? A diagram that shows all the food chains in an ecosystem

12. Name the producersin the food web pictured: Grass, seeds/wheat, tree

13. Name the primary consumers in the food web pictured: Squirrel, grasshopper, , gopher, deer

15. What is this a picture of? Energy pyramid

16. What level will you find the most energy? First/bottom

17. What would happen if we added rabbits to the Energy Pyramid? Who would benefit? The would benefit

Create your own food chain below and remember to label the producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer and tertiary consumer. Answers will vary

18. How might the lack of sunlight disrupt the food chain? Lack of sunlight will disrupt the food chain in a major way. All consumers rely on plants as their source of food. Without the sun, plant will not be able to make food. 19. What would happen if the secondary consumer in your food chain became extinct? If the secondary consumer became in extinct then there would be a disruption in the food chain. The tertiary consumers would not have food to eat. There would also be a surplus of primary consumers because they will not be getting eaten.

Directions: Read each question and circle the correct answer below:

20. All plants are autotrophic. But there are no animals or fungi that are autotrophic, they are all heterotrophic. What can you infer about autotrophic organisms?

a. All plants can move around on their own b. All plants are at the top of the food chain c. All plants can make their own energy d. Plants only reproduce
