Englewood goes solar

As part of its commitment to the environment, the City of Englewood recently installed photovoltaic solar panels atop several of its facilities. The panels went online in late and are expected to produce roughly 10 percent of the electricity needed for all City buildings. The overall system will provide 295,000 kwh of electricity, roughly enough to power 27 homes. The Englewood Citizen 1 November/December 2010 Englewood City Council Message from Jim Woodward Mayor City Council At Large 303-781-5495

The 2011 budget process has been fi nalized and adopted by City Council. There were Jill Wilson many ideas that came forward from the City Mayor Pro Tem Randy Penn At Large City Council Member departments, the citizens of Englewood 303-761-8680 District 3 and from the boards and commissions. The objective set up by the Council when developing the budget was to retain programs, services, and employees. I believe this is a fi scally responsible budget; one that has answered citizen Rick Gillit concerns, received tremendous cooperation from the various working District 4 groups within the city, and maintained the many services the citizens 303-246-4780 expect. Please remember that this budget is a work in progress and adjustments need to be made with either an unexpected negative expenditure need or a positive revenue infl ux. Joe Jefferson There is still a need for citizen input and involvement. There is always a District 1 need for citizen membership on the diff erent boards and commissions. 720-373-5639 See page three for information on the next round of board and commission appointments.

As a citizen you have the right to speak at the City Council meetings Bob McCaslin At Large on any concerns you might have, and I encourage you to get involved. 303-798-5326 You are also encouraged to communicate with your City Council representative about any concerns or ideas you may have. I encourage you to take part in the Council member’s district meetings; these are also posted on our website (www.englewoodgov.org). Stay involved and let the Council members know what you see is happening in the City of Linda Olson District 2 Englewood. 303-789-4799 Program delivery and city services are always a top priority. The budget did make cuts on some of the programs and services off ered by the City of Englewood. Please contact your City Council member and let him or her know what programs and/or services you want the city to retain or Randy Penn District 3 cut back in the future. The city infrastructure is always a top line item 303-761-5170 for City Council. Englewood has always been a city that prides itself on well maintained streets, clean and available city buildings, and the many wonderful parks within the city limits. As a Council member it is a great selling point that the City of Englewood is a full service city whose Englewood City Council meetings are normally services are made available to all Englewood residents. held the fi rst and third Mondays of each month. The meetings are open to the public and inter- ested parties are welcome to attend. If you plan to attend a meeting and you have a disability requiring auxiliary aids or services, please notify the City of Englewood (303-762-2405) at least 48 hours in advance of when services are needed.
