Duties

The Team Leader of the Field Operations Team (FOT) plays an important role in protecting the values and integrity of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA). The role contributes through leading, coordinating and overseeing marine protected area surveillance and compliance activities across the entire GBRWHA.

This position directly leads and manages a high performance surveillance team based in Gladstone. Importantly the role involves working with partner agencies to deliver an efficient and effective compliance program. Field activities are delivered across the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (Commonwealth, including Commonwealth islands), the Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park (State) and island National Parks (State), which are part of the World Heritage Area.

This position is a part of the Reef Joint Field Management Program’s (RJFMP) Operations Section. The RJFMP administers and coordinates the cooperative arrangements between the Australian and Queensland Governments which includes the Operations Section, which delivers a single marine protected area compliance program for the GBRWHA.

Duties

1. Lead and manage one of the Agency’s dedicated field operations teams. In doing so, with limited supervision, deliver and facilitate effective surveillance operations over the entire Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. 2. Manage and improve relationships with personnel from key partner agencies and industries. During this process promote the Field Management Compliance Program principles and objectives. 3. Through a process of continuous improvement strive for best practice relating to the planning, delivery and reporting on marine protected area surveillance. 4. Actively promote and facilitate safe work practices as required under Commonwealth and State law. This includes managing work health safety at cohabitated facilities, of joint assets, and for high risk field operations. 5. Contribute to compliance planning and business planning for the Field Management Compliance Program.

As an APS employee you may be reassigned to a different set of duties at the same classification level at the discretion of the agency head (CEO), taking account of operational requirements in the agency. Eligibility

Duties

The Role The Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) is seeking a Level 1 Hydrographic Surveyor or equivalent to lead a small office-based validation and assessment team. Duties primarily involve managing and approving the examination, verification and deconfliction of hydrographic data and the allocation of quality attributes required for nautical chart compilation. There is an emphasis on building strong relationships with survey authorities and within the AHO to ensure quality hydrographic survey data is provided for nautical charting. The position would suit a hydrographic surveyor or equivalent with broad experience surveying the maritime environment, who may be seeking the stability of working in an office environment. Candidates with demonstrated equivalent geospatial experience will be considered. Knowledge of current hydrographic surveying practices, including modern multibeam sonar systems, laser bathymetry, bathymetric processing and associated quality assurance measures would be advantageous.

About our Team The team is part of the National Hydrography Program Directorate within the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) located in Wollongong. The AHO comprises a mix of about 150 Navy and APS staff working to enable safe navigation in Australian waters through the provision of Australia's national hydrographic services.

The Bathymetric Data Assessment team consists of a mix of 8 Navy and APS personnel with skills in hydrographic surveying, geographic information systems and cartography. The team's main function is to prepare bathymetric data for use in nautical chart compilation. This involves hydrographic data manipulation, visualisation, examination and assessment against national and international standards. Quality attributes are assigned to create validated bathymetry which is then combined to produce source bathymetry surfaces for use in nautical chart compilation.

Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in hydrographic surveying, being a Certified Hydrographic Surveyor Level 1 or equivalent. They have experience with a broad range of hydrographic surveying sensors and current hydrographic practices. They have demonstrated experience analysing hydrographic data to ensure compliance with survey standards and requirements. About the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Operations Group The Group is responsible for the effective delivery of quality assessment and monitoring of approved provider compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, undertaking accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, completion of Quality Reviews of Home Services, and additional functions as required such as infection control monitoring.

The Group, of approximately 300 staff at locations across Australia, is led by an Executive Director and national leadership team within a single Commission operating model. There are four Regional Directors providing leadership in each region who are supported by a national operations team responsible for program planning and performance.

This group is responsible for the effective delivery of the Commission’s accreditation and monitoring program where Commonwealth funded aged care services are assessed against their performance against the Aged Care Quality Standards.

About the Role/s Positions are currently available in the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Operations Group however the outcomes of this process may be used for future vacancies in the Complaints Operations and/or the Provider Approval and Compliance Groups.

Quality Assessors are responsible for conducting primarily field-based audits and assessments of aged care providers, under the guidance of their EL1/Assistant Director, who also makes delegated decisions based on the findings of the Quality Assessment Team.

This position reports to the Data and Technology Executive Manager and under general supervision is accountable for:

providing exceptional customer support to reporting organisations in aspects of completing and submitting online reporting for the Agency. interpreting information provided by reporting organisations and communicating with them to provide information and advice relating to the Act. proactively maintaining accurate organisation information in our CRM system relating to employers, contacts, reporting hierarchies and other relevant data. supporting the Business Analyst / Customer Relationship Specialist to determine effective resourcing/coverage for the data submission period. managing the coordination, and quality preparation of relevant team communications. assisting in the development of education material and templates for the CRM platform. supporting CRM education programs for the Agency. contributing to other Agency projects as required

Eligibility

The Program Officer will contribute to the Agency capability by being able to:

1. demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer services through excellent internal and external customer service skills. This includes developing plans, objectives, clarifying expectations and deadlines; keeping clients informed on progress; providing prompt and professional outcomes for clients.demonstrate previous Customer Relationship Management system experience (Salesforce desirable). 2. apply well-developed written and verbal communication skills which include the demonstrated ability to confidently present messages in a clear, concise manner and to tailor communication style to suit the audience. 3. develop effective and engaging educational materials for a professional environment. 4. demonstrate computer literacy including an intermediate level of experience using MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and databases. 5. demonstrate an understanding or ability to rapidly gain an understanding of the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 and relevant reporting requirements.

About the Workplace Gender Equality Agency

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency is an Australian Government statutory agency created by the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. The Agency is charged with promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplaces. We work collaboratively with employers providing advice, practical tools and education to help them improve their gender performance. We also work with employers to help them comply with the reporting requirements under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. This reporting framework aims to encourage measures that improve gender equality outcomes and has been designed to minimise the regulatory burden on business. The Agency uses the reporting data to develop educational Competitor Analysis Benchmark Reports based on six gender equality indicators. The reports can be customised by industry and organisation size and enable employers to identify areas for focus, develop informed strategies and measure performance against peers over time. We are committed to promoting and contributing to understanding, acceptance and public debate of gender equality issues in the workplace. We work collaboratively with employers, business, industry and professional associations, academics and researchers, equal opportunity networks and women’s groups and regularly speak at private and public events on workplace gender issues.
