Scientific Committee Chairman’s Message

Dear Friends,

Greetings from CSI 2020 Scientific Committee!

It’s inconceivable how things have changed and what we have lost this year. But challenging times also have a way of uncovering silver linings. We present you a week long conference CSI 2020 at Ahmedabad in a hybrid platform. Virtual conferences might lack the intimacy of a physical gathering, but it’s still possible for attendees to connect with each other. Please acknowledge that these are weird times and the experience you get from a virtual conference may be a little different. Yet this format provides opportunities as well and we have attempted to provide you the scientific content in an appealing manner which will certainly satisfy your intellectual curiosity.

It is my proud privilege to be the Chair Scientific committee CSI 2020 Ahmedabad. We were able to assemble a group of vibrant cardiologists from all across India who worked tirelessly during the past months to formulate the scientific program. I am thankful for their exceptional support and contributions in planning the scientific program and have no hesitation to give all credits they richly deserve.

Designing the scientific programme for the largest congregation of cardiologists in India is certainly not an easy task. Such a program should reflect the current direction of advances happening in the practice of cardiology. It should also update the knowledge base of the attending delegates. We felt that a CSI conference in addition should facilitate research initiatives addressing unique issues faced by cardiologists in India. Research methodology workshop with world famous cardiology researchers will attract young cardiologists to the sphere of cardiovascular research. We have carefully selected international (more than fifty of them) and national faculty to maximize knowledge acquisition and updating. You will see an array of women cardiologists, both international and national amongst the erudite faculty. There will be plenty of learning opportunities for fellows in training with a 8 hour post graduate training programme conducted by teachers of immaculate standing.

We have adopted a new format for the scientific sessions. Each session, 75 mts or 90 mts in duration will have 2 to 3 lectures covering various aspects of the topic and either a debate or a point to counterpoint session or a case based session. In addition there will plenty of state of the art lectures delivered by masters in the respective fields with opportunities to interact with them. There will be joint sessions with ACC and ESC. To encourage young cardiologists, are doing an intercollegiate Quiz competition which I am sure will be stimulating and at the same time entertaining. Young cardiologists will also actively present free papers, challenging clinical cases and complex interventions. The plenary sessions will cover both prevention of CAD in India and advances in coronary and structural interventions. Where ever possible, case based formats are used. Plenty of time is set aside for discussions.

A good scientific presentation, keenly watched (mostly virtually) and debated, is an appealing experience and we hope you will have them in plenty .We solicit your enthusiastic participation in the deliberations of CSI 2020.

Best wishes

Mohanan Padinhare Cibu Mathew Chairman Scientific Committee Joint Secretary

2 Organizing Secretary’s Message

Dear colleagues,

Greetings from the Organizing Committee, CSI 2020.

Ahmadabad is India’s first UNESCO world heritage city and the host for the 72nd CSI annual conference. It is the first time in its 72-year history that CSI is being held at Ahmadabad.

However, given the unforeseen unfortunate circumstances, it is with a heavy heart we inform you that in-person attendance (for most of the events) won’t be possible.

Despite all the setbacks this year, I am proud that the organizing committee has worked tirelessly to make this conference a success. We have tried our best to overcome the obvious limitations in the current scenario of a hybrid conference and provide one of the finest virtual experiences. We sincerely hope that the conference provides a light of knowledge in this otherwise dark year.

We believe that this year’s conference is just the beginning and hope that Ahmadabad gets a chance once again in near future to welcome you all in- person and showcase our cultural heritage along with amazing hospitality.
