Community Liaison This past year, nearly 35,000 visitors explored our galleries, attended classes, or Vice President enjoyed performances—here—at the Center for the Arts. Howard Bank • Recognized exemplary leadership in the arts through our Howie Awards, presented Directors to Maureen Berry, Teelin Irish Dance Founder and Choreographer (Outstanding Artist); Earl Armiger Orchard Development Corporation Pamela Land, River Hill High Theater Instructor (Outstanding Arts Educator); and Pixel Deborah Chen Workshop (Outstanding Business Supporter of the Arts). Community Liaison & Musician • Published a quarterly newsletter and calendar of arts events. Ellen Flynn Giles • Worked with art consultant Webb Management Services to convene community leaders EFG Enterprises and key stakeholders to develop a business plan for a possible new art center in Downtown Mary Kay Kenney Columbia. Maryland University of Integrative Health • Maintained active social media presence resulting in 32,500 unique visitors to Margaret Kim hocoarts.org, expanded e-newsletter circulation, and increased our online audience through AllCare of Maryland Facebook and Twitter. Freda Lee-McCann Visual Artist • Mounted 12 exciting, original exhibits featuring 262 artists and 400 K-12 students. Mary Peitz • Organized a four-day plein air event in historic Ellicott City featuring over 70 artists and Community Liaison hundreds of spectators. David Phillips • Placed 13 new temporary outdoor sculptures at community sites county-wide. Montgomery College • Provided affordable rehearsal, performance, and studio space to over 60 artists and arts Brian Rosenberg groups. Rosenberg|Pelino, LLC • Presented Fabulous 50+ Players musical theatre outreach programs at senior and Janet Schreibstein Community Liaison community centers county-wide. Kenneth Skrzesz (October 2015– • Provided hands-on experiences in the arts to 120 children attending the Ellicott City March 2016) and Tubman Head Start Centers through our highly acclaimed Head StART in ART artists- Maryland State Department of Education in-education program. Chester Stacy • Presented ARTreach 2016, our second one-day free family arts festival at Long Reach Chester Creates Village Center featuring live music, puppet shows, a pop-up gallery shop, an interactive George Wilson HCPSS Fine Arts Advisory Council [continued on page 7]
