Golf Gala Day On Friday 12th September, students in Years 3 to 6 who parcipate in golf for their school sport le school at 12:30 and headed down to Jamberoo Golf Club for a special gala day organised by the golf club and Jack Newton Junior Golf. Upon arriving at the golf club, we broke into our teams (for which each team created a team name) and went with Phil Lewis, Jim Bu, Linda McGlinchey and Rose (of the golf club), Mrs Marn, Mrs McCormack and Tanya Kirby from Jack Newton Junior Golf. Students received small group and individual coaching as they played an ambrose game (a cooperave golf game where each team plays to get their lowest possible score whilst compeng against the other teams). Once each team finished the 5 hole game, we met at the club house for a sausage sizzle and a presentaon for the two winning teams. I believe Jamberoo School students are privileged to work with these outstanding community members from the golf club. Students loved playing on the ‘real’ golf course and also loved having parents there supporng them as they played. So I’d like to express a huge thank you to Jamberoo Golf Club and to Jack Newton Junior Golf for making such an opportunity possible for our students. I’d also like to thank all the students, as their behaviour was excellent at the gala day. Mrs McCormack Golf Gala Day Winners Runners-up An Email from Canada Dear Cizens of New South Wales... I'm sorry I haven't got to you for a long me, but believe it, It actually gets warm here. I've been to the french speaking province of Quebec, all the way to the towns of Banff and Jasper in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and to the home of the white bears, (that are not Polar Bears) in the forests around the town of Prince Rupert which is North America's main port to Asia. WOW, But it rains all year long in Prince Rupert, non stop. Look up some pictures of the white Kermode Bear which is actually a black bear with some very unique genecs. Look up the city of Montreal in Quebec too. It's got a space age Stadium and science museum... Come to think of it, Vancouver's got that too. But now I can say "been there, done that" to North America. Here we have got an extra extra long holiday, two months already, plus a two month long teacher strike, imagine that. Extra long holiday for every kid in Brish Columbia! Feel free to reply and ask quesons. From a humble small child in Brish Columbia, Canada. Melinda Kunkler Below are recounts of the day by some of the students: On Tuesday Stage Three parcipated in a cricket gala day at Croome Road. We had two girls teams and two boys teams. My team, which was team one were very successful winning all of our games. The first team we played was from Shellharbour and the score was 42-36, the second game we played was against the All Stars from Albion Park Rail and although we didn't think we would, we won 148-124. Our third game was against the other Albion Park Rail team, which we also won, with the score being 153-143. If the rain hadn't started we would have played another game but instead it was called off and we finished early. The other teams also did well with the other girl’s team winning 2/3 of their games, the first boys team also won 2/3 of their games and the second boys team winning 1/3 games. It was a fun day and there was also a catching compeon but the best part was the milo we got at the end.
