2. Management Conditions on Boundaries Boundary Conditions FMZ FMZ 2 – Occurs on the southern boundary of the compartment, but is outside the harvest area. Log haulage and road maintenance are permitted. Harvesting and harvesting machinery are not permitted in this area. FT is not required to mark the boundary. National Park National Park forms the eastern and northern boundary of the compartment and is shown on the HPOM. The eastern boundary is located 50m west of the Corn Trail. No forestry activities are permitted to enter or cross the national park boundary. The FT must mark the National Park boundary with pink and yellow tape. The crew must ensure access roads to the National Park are not impeded by forestry activities and the roads condition is maintained. Cultural Heritage Surveys have been conducted. No heritage sites were located during surveys. If any potential heritage sites are identified notify the planner immediately.

* Where field boundary marking instructions differ from SOP2: Exclusion Zone Boundary Management, the instructions in this Harvest Plan apply.

5. Community Issue Detail Conditions

Notifications Required Nil All relevant notifications have been conducted. A notification list for FCNSW staff is available from the planner.

Pests/Weeds Myrtle Rust/other Is known to occur in . To prevent weeds/pests further spread the crew/haulage operators must ensure all harvesting machinery, equipment and vehicles heading west from Eurobodalla Shire are checked and all infected vegetation removed.

6. Infrastructure Infrastructure Conditions

517/1 road & 517/2 These roads provide access for post-harvest forestry activities. Crew is to road ensure at the completion of harvesting all road drainage is constructed to allow 4WD access.

7. Harvesting Conditions

Silviculture Type Harvesting Objectives and Stand Condition

STS Heavy The harvest area is predominately mature to over mature Silvertop Ash and Stringybark in predominately even-aged stands. Previous harvesting and fire has

caused patchy regeneration, mainly Silvertop Ash along ridge lines, which is now Entire harvest area advanced and approximately 30-40cm DBH. The objective is to harvest all commercially available trees to create canopy openings and ensure mechanical disturbance creates a suitable seed bed for regeneration of the stands. Silvertop Ash advanced regeneration can be thinned and spaced to promote growth of dominant trees. Crew to retain well-formed seed trees of preferred species at ~40 m spacing. HC to instruct crew to thin patches of quality advanced regeneration where they occur. Crew to remove all merchantable stems not marked for retention and ensure mechanical disturbance creates a suitable seed bed for regeneration. The crew is responsible for selecting retained seed trees and retaining patches of advanced regeneration.

Monitoring The HC must conduct Basal Area monitoring in areas treated with STS Heavy. Due to the topography of the compartment it is expected inaccessible areas will be encountered. The HC can use inaccessible areas as BA offsets. Any changes to treatment and offset areas need to be endorsed by the Operations Planning Manager.

8. Tree Retention - refer to TSL booklet for full conditions

Prescription Condition/Responsibility

Mark-Up – the FT is responsible for marking up the forest ahead of harvesting operations consistent with Forest Mark Up and Tree Retention SOP

Compartment Mark-Up Survey Compartment mark-up surveys must be conducted at least 100m in advance of operations. The survey must search for threatened and (5.1, 5.2) protected species features listed in conditions 5.1 and 5.2 of the TSL.

Hollow-bearing and Non Regrowth Zone – TSL 5.6 conditions apply. Recruitment tree retention (H Additional H trees for Greater Glider condition does not apply. and R) FT must select and mark 5 H trees/ha and 5 R trees/ha.

Significant Food Resources FT must mark for retention - 4 Eucalypt feed trees/2 ha where they occur. All glider sap feed trees, stands of forest oak and forest oak feed trees (5.6 g) must be marked for retention. Stringybark and Monkey Gum are suitable E tree species present in this compartment.

Harvesting - crew and HC responsibilities

Protection of Retained Trees Trees marked or selected for retention must not be felled. (5.6g) The crew must minimise damage to H, R and E trees must by using directional felling. Harvesting debris should not accumulate within 5 m of retained trees. Where debris does accumulate the crew must remove or flatten to < 1m high. The HC must be notified of any badly damaged retained trees and they must assess and record if a replacement retained tree is required.

Stag Retention (Dead standing The crew should retain stags where safe to do so. trees 5.6e) The crew must record the date, DBH, risk and location of unsafe stags removed

Significant food resources The crew should avoid damaging flowering or fruiting banksias or grass trees.

Impenetrable Understory In areas mapped by the FT as Impenetrable Understory procedures for harvesting in un-marked forest must be implemented by the HC and Crew.

Document title: HP_BB_517_17_v4_v4 Version No.: 4 Page 4 of 13 Harvest Plan no.: 56803 Approval Date: 01/02/2017 Expiry Date: 14/02/2017 Warning: a printed copy of this document may be uncontrolled. Please verify this is the latest version prior to use. 9. Site-Specific Flora and Fauna

Boundary Prescription Condition Type

Riparian Habitat Pink Tape Implement filter strip (hard) and protection zone (soft) around Protection (5.7) drainage features as shown on the HPOM. Refer to SOP1. FT must mark the location of UMDL with pink (10m) and 1st order protection zone boundary with pink tape. (Lidar Corrected) The crew will locate and protect all 2nd order and above streams with GPS.

Ground Habitat N/A Due to the presence of Eastern Pygmy Possum damage to ground (5.17 d) habitat should be minimised. The crew should not collect dead fallen timber from the forest floor.

Threatened Pink & River-flat Eucalypt Forest on Coastal Floodplain TEC occurs in the Ecological Yellow Tape southern end of compartment 517. The mapping shown on the Community (TEC) HPOM includes a 10m buffer. The FT must mark as an exclusion the TEC boundary in the field as shown on the HPOM. The crew must protect all areas of marked and mapped TEC.

Rainforest (5.4) Pink Tape Rainforest is mapped in the compartment and shown on the HPOM. The FT must identify the rainforest type (temperate or depauperate) and then mark an exclusion zone based on the rainforest type. The FT must search for and mark all areas of unmapped rainforest. The crew must protect all areas of Rainforest.

Rocky Outcrops and Pink Tape No Rocky Outcrop was mapped in the compartment during Cliffs (5.11) planning. The FT and HC must search for and assess any areas of rocky terrain. The FT must mark as an exclusion identified rocky outcrop + relevant exclusion zone as it occurs on the ground. The crew must protect all areas of rocky outcrop and cliffs.

Eastern Pygmy Pink and A site specific prescription for Eastern Pygmy Possum applies to Possum Yellow Tape compartment 517. A 100m hard exclusion zone applies around the record, as shown on the HPOM. The FT must mark the exclusion zone as mapped. The crew must protect the exclusion zone as marked.

Golden Tipped Bat N/A Record is shown on the HPOM in the south western corner of the compartment. All mapped drainage lines within 200m of the record have had a 30m exclusion zone applied. The crew will locate and protect the mapped exclusion zone.
