Management Conditions on Boundaries Boundary Conditions FMZ FMZ 2 – Occurs on the southern boundary of the compartment, but is outside the harvest area. Log haulage and road maintenance are permitted. Harvesting and harvesting machinery are not permitted in this area. FT is not required to mark the boundary. National Park National Park forms the eastern and northern boundary of the compartment and is shown on the HPOM. The eastern boundary is located 50m west of the Corn Trail. No forestry activities are permitted to enter or cross the national park boundary. The FT must mark the National Park boundary with pink and yellow tape. The crew must ensure access roads to the National Park are not impeded by forestry activities and the roads condition is maintained. Cultural Heritage Surveys have been conducted. No heritage sites were located during surveys. With a current membership of 125, Coastwatchers has been active in the Eurobodalla Shire for a quarter of a century, conducting research, liaison, advocacy and encouragement for initiatives aimed at protecting the natural environment. In March 2010, Coastwatchers initiated a joint volunteer Eurobodalla Koalas project, aimed at investigating potential remnant populations, potential future habitat and issues related to koalas in Eurobodalla forests, including those on private land, State Forests and National Parks. The project has reached a point where some preliminary observations can be made. A preliminary discussion paper will be released publicly in March 2011. Coastwatchers welcomes the opportunity to provide these observations, and a set of recommendations, to the Senate Inquiry with a particular emphasis on the Eurobodalla. Comerong Volcanics Lachlan Orogen Paleoenvironment Stratigraphy Intraplate Devonian Timing and basin implications for the Eden-Comerong-Yalwal Volcanic Zone: Stratigraphy, Depositional Environment and Tectonic Affinity of the Comerong Volcanic Complex, NSW i Abstract The Lachlan Orogen of New South Wales and Victoria preserves a geological history of Palaeozoic cratonisation of eastern Australia along the paleo-pacific plate boundary. The Lachlan Orogen forms an important crustal feature in eastern Australia because it hosts world-class economic deposits and provides a unique insight into plate tectonic processes active throughout the Palaeozoic. The eastern subdivision of the Lachlan Orogen is comprised of a complex accumulation of volcanic and sedimentary successions, intruded by granitic batholiths. Here I investigate the paleoenvironment, geochemical affinity and timing of the Devonian, Comerong Volcanic Complex on the New South Wales south coast. This investigation demonstrates the Comerong Volcanic Complex consists of alluvial, fluvial and lacustrine sedimentary deposits and bimodal volcanics that were emplaced in a subaerial paleoenvironment. The bimodal volcanics are underlain by a minor accumulation of andesitic lavas that have subduction-related trace element signatures. The bimodal rhyolites and basalts have within-plate geochemical affinities, indicating an intraplate tectonic setting.

    9h Australian Small Bridges Conference 2019 A Tale of Two Bridges A Comparison of Tyrone and Runnyford Bridge Constructions Royce Toohey, Support Services Engineer, Eurobodalla Shire Council ABSTRACT As part of Eurobodalla’s ongoing bridge replacement program, Council committed to the renewal of Runnyford Bridge over the Buckenbowra River at Runnyford. Simultaneously, grant funding was obtained from both NSW and Australian Governments for the replacement of Tyrone Bridge over the Tuross River at Eurobodalla. This paper looks at the two projects, the methods, costs and outcomes and compares the two. Runnyford Bridge is a 130m long timber structure that was replaced like-for-like within the existing footprint whilst Tyrone was the replacement of a 60m long low-level timber bridge with a 90m long concrete structure at a higher level on an adjacent alignment. Runnyford was Council funded, undertaken in-house to no predetermined design rather replicating what was existing. Tyrone was grant funded and delivered by a Design & Construct Contract under external supervision by NSW Public Works, with Council undertaking the tie-in roadworks. Whilst both projects have delivered the desired outcomes, they raised a number of significant issues in methodology, project management and skills. Lessons have been learnt from both projects and applied to Council’s systems and methodologies. 1 INTRODUCTION As part of Eurobodalla’s ongoing bridge replacement program that has seen the replacement of 15 timber bridges since the early 2000’s, Council committed to the renewal of Runnyford Bridge over the Buckenbowra River at Runnyford.
