You are all to be recognized for your dedication and focus as these are the attributes that have led to the success you have already achieved.Trainers and coaches have helped to prepare you for this event and I am certain their ongoingencouragement will continue to fuel your desire to do your best. I would also like to thank all the sponsors. Your generosity and support is key to the success of this event. Curling is a team sport that requires a high level of skill and strategy. The City is incredibly honoured to be given the opportunity to host this event for the first time! The benefits to the community and our youth through BC School Sports are tremendous and we are proud of the spirit and enthusiasm displayed by all the young athletes. We are honoured once again to have RioTinto Alcan as our generous sponsor of BC School Sports Curling, a role they have wonderfully filled for 34 years. It is their support which helps us to enjoy a first class event every year. I would like thank Moe Williams for the untold hours spent organizing the Curling Commission and Provincial Championships. Thanks also to all the coaches, sponsors, and convenors for your commitment to curling and your support of young curlers. The Commission is grateful to the Dawson Creek Curling Club, Dawson Creek Secondary School and Margaret Bourassa and her committee of stalwart volunteers for hosting our championships this year. Without your sup- port, such a fine event would not be possible. And finally to the athletes, we extend a warm welcome and congratulations for having qualified for the 2012 Pro- vincial Championships. I would like to extend the Commission’s appreciation to Marg Bourassa and her organizing committee, the Dawson Creek Curling Club, the City of Dawson Creek, and to the host, Dawson Creek Secondary, for orga- nizing and hosting our championships. We would also like to thank Curl BC for their assistance, and our auditor, Suky Cheema of BDO Dunwoody, for their continued support of school curling in BC. I would especially like to thank Rio Tinto Alcan for their excellent sponsorship of boys’ and girls’ curling in BC. This year is the 34th anniver- sary of their support. To the athletes, curling is a game of etiquette and sportsmanship. Once again, we are looking forward to the high calibre of play on the ice, and the display of friendship on and off the ice. Our congratulations go out to the regional boys’ and girls’ winning rinks. We hope your participation here at the championships will give you a positive experience to take back to the regions and schools you have represented. At the championships, you will meet new friends and acquaintances through competition and social interaction. Some of these people will be friends for years to come.
