    Newsletter August 2019 Liebe Badminton Freunde und Unterstützer Die TOTAL BWF Badminton Weltmeisterschaft 2019, war das Highlight im August. Leider konnte ich noch nicht an einer Badminton WM teilnehmen, da mir leider noch die nötigen Qualifikations-Punkte dazu fehlen. Eines meiner Ziele ist natürlich, dass ich es schaffen werde in der nahen Zukunft an einer Badminton WM teilnehmen zu können. Ich hatte aber trotzdem ein super WM feeling... :-) Während der WM in Basel war ich als Laision Officer tätig. Ich wurde für die Thai und Ukrainische National-Mannschaft eingeteilt. Meine Aufgaben bestanden darin, die National-Team's bei organisatorischen, administrative Fragen und gelegentliche Interview zu helfen und wenn nötig bei Sprachlichen Übersetztungen zu helfen. Es hat mir Riesen-Spass gemacht und ich habe wieder sehr viel dazu gelernt. Das erste Mal hatte ich die Gelegenheit, Para Athleten näher kennenzulernen, was für eine Bereicherung. Die gute Stimmung unter den Athleten, ihren sportlichen Einsatz und die Spanneden Spiele, hat mich echt beeindruckt. Mit der Thai Para National-Mannschaft, hatte ich eine super Zeit verbracht und viele neue Freunde kennengelernt. Wir waren am Abend, nach den Spielen, an die Rhein- Promenade und einige haben sogar den Sprung ins kalte Nass gewagt. Wir hatten es wirklich lustig zusammen. Ein Riesenkompliment an die Organisatoren das Badminton WM in Basel, was für eine gute idee die WM zusammen aufzuführen. Eine gelungene WM auf die wir stolz sein können. Pebulu tangkis tunggal putri Gregoria Mariska Tunjung menjadi atlet Indonesia pertama yang tampil pada hari ini. Tepat pukul 07.00 WIB, ia akan bersaing dengan wakil Thailand Ratchanok Intanon untuk memperebutkan tiket perempat final. Perjalanan Gregoria di fase gugur memang tak mudah. Untuk bisa melaju ke babak berikutnya, ia harus bisa menyingkirkan Intanon yang secara peringkat berada di posisi keenam dunia, jauh di atas Gregoria di urutan ke-23. Bahkan sepanjang tujuh pertemuan sebelumnya, wakil Indonesia tak pernah menang dari Intanon. Seperti yang terjadi pada laga terakhir di Malaysia Masters 2020, ketika Gregoria kalah dari Intanon dengan skor 24-22, 19-21, 15-21. Meski secara statistik tak diunggulkan, Gregoria mengaku akan berjuang dan tak ingin membuang kesempatan. “Saya tidak peduli siapa lawan yang akan saya hadapi di babak 16 besar nanti.     Ganda Putra Hendra/Ahsan Jadi Pasangan Atlet Tertua di Olimpiade Tokyo Realitarakyat.com – Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan menjadi salah satu wakil Indonesia yang akan bersaing di Olimpiade Tokyo pada 23 Juli hingga 8 Agustus mendatang meski dalam usia mereka yang tak lagi muda. Dalam usia Hendra yang memasuki 37 dan Ahsan 34 tahun, pasangan peringkat kedua dunia itu menjadi ganda putra tertua di Olimpiade Tokyo nanti. Sebetulnya ada beberapa pemain ganda putra lainnya yang juga melampaui usia lebih dari 30 tahun yang akan tampil di Tokyo, diantaranya Hiroyuki Endo (34), Keigo Sonoda (31), Takeshi Kamura (31), Andres Skaarup Rasmussen (32), Ivan Sozonov (32) dan Vladimir Ivanov (34). Meski sudah melampaui usia emas mereka, Hendra/Ahsan justru seperti terlahir kembali dan mampu menunjukkan persaingannya di level elite dunia pada 2019 sejak keduanya menapaki karier bersama mulai dari nol pada 2018, setelah sempat dipisahkan karena Hendra keluar dari pelatnas pada 2017. Di tengah persaingan para pemain-pemain muda berusia 20 tahunan, pasangan berjuluk The Daddies itu tercatat lolos ke 11 final turnamen BWF sepanjang 2019. Mereka bahkan sukses menyabet status juara dalam tiga ajang besar, yakni All England, Kejuaraan Dunia Bulu Tangkis dan BWF World Tour Finals. Berkat prestasi tersebut, Hendra/Ahsan pun berhasil menduduki peringkat kedua dunia sejak Agustus 2019 hingga sekarang. Mereka mengungguli pemain-pemain muda, seperti Li Jun Hui/Liu Yu Chen (China), Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto (Indonesia) dan Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin (Taiwan).
