Beamish Museum has several exceptional venues which are licensed to hold civil ceremonies. All ceremony and drinks reception venues are available for a three hour period (including set-up), usually from 3-6pm, and the hire fee includes:  Staff in period costume to meet and greet guests and the bridal party, and be on hand to provide additional historical information where appropriate  Staff in period costume who can provide announcements and serve reception drinks and canapés, if required  On arrival at the Museum’s Main Entrance, our replica car will transport the bridal party to your venue, while your guests will travel on one of our historic vehicles to the nearest tram stop  Ceremony venue decoration in period style using seasonal greenery and flowers from the site  All venues provide a memorable and stunning backdrop for photographs  Free car parking  The services of a designated event planner

Georgian Landscape

Pockerley Old Hall

Set in a landscape reflecting the early 1800s, Pockerley Old Hall provides a superb venue for weddings and can accommodate up to 45 guests. Two rooms are licensed for ceremonies from 4.30pm - The Parlour which can hold up to 16 guests standing or 12 seated; and The Kitchen which can accommodate up to 45 guests standing. Drinks receptions can take place in Pockerley’s attractive gardens which feature plants from the era and command stunning views over the Georgian landscape.

Pockerley Gardens

The gardens at Pockerley are licensed for civil ceremonies from 4.30pm. The terraced garden is typical of the early 1800’s and has three areas – an ornamental garden with flowers and herbs, a vegetable garden and an orchard, and can accommodate approximately 50 guests.

Great Shed at The Waggonway

In the valley below Pockerley Old Hall runs The Waggonway with its 1820’s Great Shed. This unique venue can accommodate up to 90 guests standing or 75 seated, and is available for 4.30pm ceremonies from April until the end of October.

Edwardian Town

The Masonic Hall

The Masonic Hall was reconstructed in 2006 to demonstrate Freemasonry in Edwardian

times, and was furnished using original Masonic items that were donated / loaned to the Museum. The hall provides a unique and stunning venue for civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 60 guests seated.

Bank Board Room

Situated above Barclay & Co.’s Bank, the Bank Board Room is in the heart of our 1900s Town, with fantastic views overlooking the main street.

This venue can accommodate up to 50 guests.

Museum Room

Situated above The Masonic Hall, The Museum Room offers modern furnishings in a period setting and can accommodate up to 40 guests.

Rowley Station Ladies’ Waiting Room

The station was originally in Rowley, near , , circa. 1867 and was reopened at Beamish in 1976. It depicts the station as it looked in Edwardian times with its signal box, waiting rooms and goods yard and you may even spot a variety of wagons on display! This venue can accommodate up to 25 guests standing.

The Pit Village

Hetton Silver Band Hall Hetton Silver Band Hall has been moved, brick by brick, from Hetton-le-Hole to Beamish, and can accommodate up to 60 guests.

The School ‘Top Classroom’ (New for 2018!) New for 2018, a wedding with a difference – guests will make their way to sit in the top classroom, just as Victorian school children did. After the ceremony, guests can pop into the playground for a turn of hopscotch or a chance to master the booler! The classroom can accommodate up to 65 guests for ceremonies from 5pm.

Wedding Celebration - Evening Receptions – from £1,750!

Due to popular demand, our new ‘evening only’ packages offer you the opportunity to hold your evening celebration in our Tea Rooms, located in our 1900s Town area, between 6pm and 11pm. Included within these offers is hire of The Cookson Room as your entertainment area, and The Sun Inn for guests to enjoy a drink in our traditional Edwardian public house. The Tea Rooms can seat 120 guests.

Venue Hire for all packages is £1,750.00 and includes historic transport for you and your guests to our 1900s Town, evening reception room hire, and hire of The Sun Inn. We offer three catering packages, as priced below, chargeable per person, and for a minimum of 30 guests.

Terms & Conditions for Wedding Ceremonies & Celebrations at Beamish Museum

 The hire costs include: . 3 hour venue hire for civil wedding ceremony, which would be agreed as either 3- 6pm or 4-7pm, depending on chosen venue. The evening reception venue is The Tea Rooms (available from 6pm, with all guests off-site by 11pm), and we also include The Cookson Room as an entertainment area, i.e. small band or disco . Costumed meet and greet and staff to provide additional historical information to guests where appropriate, and serve drinks and canapés, if required (subject to package chosen) . Use of period car for transportation of the bridal party to and from the ceremony; and one of our fleet of historic transport for guests . Ceremony room decoration in period style using seasonal greenery and flowers from the site (this can be embellished with flowers provided by yourselves) . Opportunity to take photographs within visitor areas of the Museum . Free car parking . Services of designated event planner  A 50% non-refundable deposit (excluding VAT) of the package price is required to confirm the booking. The deposit is payable by debit/credit card to Group & Venue Sales (0191 370 4025), or alternatively we can accept a BACS payment and banking information will be provided as required. The balance is due no later than one calendar month prior to the wedding date and an invoice will be raised  Should the event require Beamish Museum to book the services of an external supplier (marquee, entertainer etc.), the full cost may be required up front depending on the terms and conditions of that supplier. Beamish charges a 15% facilitation fee for this service  In the event that you cancel your booking, the deposit shall be forfeit. If you cancel within one calendar month of the hire date, the full hire costs remains payable together with any costs already incurred (e.g. catering/entertainment)  Due to fire regulations, guest numbers are strictly limited to the following capacities in our wedding venues: .  Unfortunately we cannot accommodate wedding ceremonies on bank holidays, during the main summer season, i.e. between mid-July to 1st week of September); or on major event days. Bookings are subject to availability  We only allow the use of natural confetti, such as flower petals, outside the perimeter of the chosen venue. Unfortunately ‘dried rice’ is not classified as a natural confetti, and we would respectfully ask that guests are advised of this in advance  Parking for guests, contractors and suppliers is at the Museum’s Main Entrance, or on the Events Field by prior agreement. Beamish Museum provides period transport to the ceremony venue for the Bride and Groom as part of the wedding package, and to the nearest tram stop for guests. Unless there is a specific access requirement, we regret that the bridal party, guests and contractors will not be able to drive their own vehicles within the Beamish Museum site  Please ensure that guests are advised not to arrive any earlier than the time agreed with your Wedding Co-ordinator, as we have no waiting facilities at the Entrance building. Likewise, please encourage guests to arrange transport in advance, for the end of the evening, to ensure they are collected before 11pm, at which time our main gates will be locked and secured  We do not have changing facilities and as such guests will need to arrive ready dressed  Any external suppliers (e.g. photographers, musicians) brought in must have a minimum of £5m public liability insurance cover and send Beamish proof of this one calendar month prior to the hire date. We suggest they do a pre-visit to familiarise themselves with the site and day’s schedule in advance  The hirer will be responsible for securing the services of the local District Registrars and we strongly recommend you check availability with them before paying a deposit to Beamish Museum  Evening functions take place up until 10.30pm, with all guests vacating the Museum by 11pm; unless alternative arrangements have been agreed
