It has become synonymous with Oktoberfest. Over the years thousands have enjoyed the great sounds of authentic Oom- Wednesday through Sunday every September and October to participate in the festivities, drink the German beers and Jaegermeister served by beautiful shot girls, eat pretzels, brats, and strudel. Sundays are Kinderfest and Wiener Dog Races, where the whole family can enjoy a tradition that originated in Munich in 1810. Page 2 ABOUT OLD WORLD HUNTINGTON BEACH Old World Village was built by Josef Bischof, a German developer who came to the United States in 1952 and dreamed of bringing with him a piece of his homeland to share. He and his family built 50 homes above 50 shops in the traditional Bavarian style in Hunting Beach. ey imported lanterns to light the way along the cobble stone streets, left space on the building’s walls for 70 vibrant murals, depicting scenes from 18 European countries. ey built a church for worship, a hall for gatherings and receptions, a restaurant, and a market.
