Seay III - 2 - INTRODUCTION The Wild Bunch celebrates its sixth birthday in 2006. This revised playbook reflects the lessons learned during that period by Wild Bunch coaches on three continents operating at every level from coaching 8-year-olds to semi-professionals. The biggest change so far in the offense has been the addition in 2004 of the Rocket Sweep series (pp. 62-72). A public high school in Chicago and a semi-pro team in New Jersey both reached their championship game using the new Rocket-fueled Wild Bunch. A youth team in Utah won its state championship running the offense practically verbatim from the playbook. A number of coaches have requested video resources on the Wild Bunch, and I am happy to say a DVD project is taking shape which will feature not only game footage but extensive whiteboard analysis of the offense, as well as information on its installation. -

After winning six of the National Football League’s first 24 championships, the Packers won only 55 games, while losing 107 and tying 3, from 1945 through 1958. No wonder that Packer fans dwelt on the past, and the great legends of the past—Canadeo, Hutson, Herber, Hubbard, Hinkle, Dilweg, Lewellen, Isbell, Michalske, Lambeau. But the greatest legend of all was Johnny Blood, because he was not only a great football player, but also a colorful, flamboyant personality off the field. (His one-time teammate and fellow member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Clarke Hinkle, once said, “Next to Johnny Blood, Joe Namath looks like Little Lord Fauntleroy.”) I grew up in Green Bay during that period and, by the time I was thirteen and thinking of becoming a writer, I knew that someday I wanted to write a book about this legendary charac- ter. -

Junior Development Football Playbook 2012 Season Welcome to PVAA Junior Development Football! This playbook is yours to keep. It is essential to the success of our program and to your enjoyment of the game. Please read it thoroughly and study it before and after practice. It is especially important to study your playbook early in the season when so much of this information might be new to you. Ask Mom or Dad to help you with any part of the playbook that is confusing to you. Everything discussed in the playbook will be explained during practice.. We will run most of the plays described in this book and maybe a few more, depending upon the players we have and their specific skills. We will be adding a few basic pass plays a little later in the season after you have learned the basic running plays illustrated here. Our coaches will work with you to teach you the safe, proper blocking and tackling techniques as well as the fundamentals of the various positions. Our goal is to teach each player to play every position both offensively and defensively. It is very important to attend practice. However, please attempt to notify your coach in advance if you will not be present at a session. During practice please pay attention to what the coaches have to say and do your best to follow their instructions. If you do, I am sure you will have a safe and enjoyable football experience.
