Wakool Burraboi PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER TERM 2 – WEEK 3 th Upcoming Events Monday 7 april 2012 TERM 2 2012 th 7 May Hello to everyone in 3/4/5/6 AFL football Wakool Burraboi’s Learning Community Clinic in Cohuna – This Friday we will be hosting the Combined Small Schools Cross Country for replaces AASS on the students 8 years and older and later this Term the infants will enjoy their own 8th of May Cross Country. We are delighted to share our school with visitors and very proud that it looks so neat and well cared for due to the hard work put in by the P&C, their 7th May families and Geoff Till. We would also like to acknowledge Asset Management in P&C Meeting helping us replace the fences which were severely storm damaged. Sharon 6.30pm McInnes, Kimberley Macauley and the canteen committee will be providing a lunch 3/4/5/6 Classroom menu on the day for our students, families, staff and visitors. A note will be sent home this week with information about the organization of the day and expressions th 8 May of interest for parents who are able to help on the day and/or would like to make a Sue Martin slice/cake to sell at the canteen on the day. All money made through the canteen OT Visit on the day will go to the P&C committee, who are busy raising funds for excursions th and other items that staff identify to create - happiness through learning – 10 May our school motto. Cassie at PD with Carol Bradley at Deniliquin This Monday the 3/4/5/6 students will be attending the St Kilda AFL football clinic in South PS Cohuna. Thank you to Vicky Lowry for offering her services to drive the bus and Tara McKenzie on saving the school considerable costs. K/1/2 th 11 May This week I attended professional learning at Yanko. I worked with other Principals Small Schools to discuss the School LeadershipIn 2011 Capability Framework and Leading Quality Combined Cross Teaching in our School. I have to join my Principal colleagues for this purpose. Country at WBPS As a school we work with parents to access additional specialist support for 14th May students when we have the capacity. We were pleased to have Michelle White Emma Heine in: work with some students this week and look forward to Sue Martin from K/1/2 – 9- 11 Community Health visiting next week. 3/4/5/6 -11.30-1.00 K/1/2 -1.40 -3.00 Cassie Dramatic CAP Our first P&C meeting for Term 2 will be held in the 3/4/5/6 classroom this evening at 6.30pm. All the services and contributions of the P&C rely heavily on the support th 15 May of parent volunteers who in turn gain new skills or have an opportunity to put their Naplan – Language and existing skills to use, meet new people, learn about how the school works, have a Writing hand in decision-making for the P&C, and provide a valuable input to the school and its students. She was part of the Western Riverina team. The top 35 netballers in the Riverina assembled on the day and took part in 4 games. Bridie played Goal Attack and Centre. Even though Bridie was not chosen as part of the final team 10 girls, she Naplan played extremely well and gained valuable experience. Bridie represented the Wakool Next Tuesday the Naplan tests will begin. Burraboi with much pride and we congratulate Students in years 3 and 5 will sit the exams. On her on such a wonderful achievement. Tuesday the students will sit two 40 minute tests. These will cover Language Conventions and Writing. On Wednesday the students will sit the Reading test and on Thursday they will have Numeracy. If any students are away due to sickness, the tests can be made up on Friday. We have provided students with practice so that they are familiar with the format and conditions. We reassure the children and keep things relaxed and calm at school to ensure all students have the opportunity to work Bridie Mathers at Wagga Wagga Riverina Netball to their potential.
