PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, Montana State University, Bozeman MT (Jan. 2011- Nov. 2014) Responsibilities and major accomplishments  Chief academic officer responsible for a state appropriated budget of ~$83M, 7 academic colleges, an Honors College, a Graduate School, and Gallatin College MSU (2 year college)  Managed enrollment growth from 12,800 (Fall 2010) to 15,600 (Fall, 2015)  Participated in revising the university’s mission statement and strategic plan in response to a regional accreditation shift to a continuous improvement model  Led the development of an Academic Strategic Plan  Reorganized an office of 7 vice provosts and 4 support staff to 2 associate provosts (now 3) and 3 support staff  Decentralized >$2M in academic affairs base funding to colleges and distributed >$5.4M from enrollment growth for ~45 new tenure track faculty lines  Provided >$1.2M for graduate education to support Ph.D. production  Provided base budgets for the honors program, undergraduate studies, and academic programs on self-support budgets  Manage the submission of academic items from four MSU campuses to the Board of Regents  Created a Center for Faculty Excellence, approved by the MT Board of Regents in 2013 and awarded a 2014 Exemplary Teaching and Learning Center Award at the 25th International Conference on Teaching and Learning  Established an annual Provost’s Distinguished Lecture Series as part of the MSU YEAR of Engaged Leadership 2013-14  Implemented the university’s first collective bargaining agreements for tenured/tenure track and non-tenure track faculty, managed subsequent decertification of tenured/tenure track faculty union, and developed a new shared governance model and faculty handbook with faculty senate leadership  Provide oversight for a Blackstone LaunchPad, a campus co-curricular entrepreneurship program that is exceeding its target goals with over 750 participating students  Moved faculty salaries from the lowest within our Carnegie ranking ~70 % of OSU benchmarks to >80% and almost eliminating compression, inversion, and gender inequities.  Improved enrollment, first year retention and graduation rates while increasing overall incoming SAT scores. MSU is now the largest institution in MT.  Improved the gender diversity of STEM faculty (50 female hires in the last 3 years)  Successfully incorporated technology in academic affairs to improve advising, faculty productivity reporting, and assessment of faculty productivity.
