    Mission Rabies Goa Monthly Report – April 2018 By Julie Corfmat, Project Manager Vaccination Total number of dogs vaccinated in April 2018 = 4,603 During April 2018, the pre-monsoon temperatures continued to rise making working conditions extremely difficult. The number of teams also decreased this month – April is peak season for Hindu weddings and many of the staff travelled back home to attend family marriages. However, the four to five working teams still managed to complete three talukas in Goa during April 2018. The South squad completed Ponda taluka (Figure 1) with a total of 9,800 vaccinations and moved to Dharbandora (Figure 2). Dharbandora taluka is a rural area which the teams also managed to complete within three weeks (Figure 3). A total of 1,442 vaccinations were administered in Dharbandora. The North Squad have completed Tiswadi taluka (Figure 4) and moved to Pernem. A total of 8,228 vaccinations were administered across Tiswadi taluka from February to April 2018. Two teams consisting of an animal handler and a team leader took to the streets on mopeds; catching nets were replaced with slip leads, muzzles and dog food (Figures 5-10).

    Minutes of the 27th Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (Goa-SEIAA) held on 10th December 2015 at 03.00 p.m. in the Chamber of its Member Secretary, EIA-Goa State Secretariat, Patto. The twenty-seventh meeting of the Goa-SEIAA (hereinafter referred as ‘Authority’) was held on 10th December 2015 at 03.00 p.m. in the chamber of its Member Secretary under the Chairmanship of Dr. Pramod Pathak. The list of members is annexed (refer Annexure – 1). At the outset, Chairman welcomed the Members and informed about the purpose of convening the meeting to discuss on the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC – hereinafter referred as ‘Committee’) recommendations w.r.t. various project proposals (i.e. construction projects / minor mineral quarry leases) seeking prior environmental clearance (EC) as mandated in the EIA Notification, 2006 (as amended). Accordingly, matters referred to in Annexure – 2 were taken up for deliberation, project-wise, as detailed below - 1. M/s Gera Developers Pvt. Ltd., (as Power of Attorney (PoA) holder for M/s Pasavnath Developers, Panaji) for construction of a commercial building proposed at plot no. 43/44 at Patto, Panaji. The Authority, after due deliberation and verification of proposal vis-a-vis compliances / clarifications submitted thereafter by the environmental consultant – M/s Sadekar Enviro Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Goa decided to defer the proposal pending re- submission of ‘Ecology and Biodiversity report’ to be decided during its next meeting. 2. SHRI SHANTARAM NAIK: Will the Minister of MINES be pleased to state: (a) the number of iron ore mines operating in the State of Goa; (b) the names of the companies operating the mines as original lease holders or a power of attorney holders; (c) the names of persons or companies in whose name each of the lease stands; and (d) the legal status of each of the operating or non-operating mine? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINES AND STEEL (SHRI VISHNU DEO SAI) As per information received from the State Government of Goa:- (a) So far 89 Mining Leases are renewed by State of Goa. (b) List of Companies operating the Mines is as Annexure “I”. (c) The list of leases with lease holder names which are renewed so far is as per Annexure “II”.   • Brief Note of the Proposal “Corpadega” Mining Lease Bearing

    Brief Note of the proposal “Corpadega” mining lease bearing T. C. No. 24/1957 is located in Dharbandora Village of Dharbandora Taluka, South Goa District of Goa. Iron ore deposit of this mine was identified by Geological Survey of India published vide GSI bulletin in the year 1971. It is a mining lease, originally granted as concession with patrimonial and perpetual rights for extraction of Iron and Manganese Ore by erstwhile Portuguese Government. Subsequent to the enactment of Goa Daman & Diu (Abolition & Declaration as Mining leases) Act 1987, all the mining concessions in Goa are converted to mining leases under MMDR Act, 1957. The subject mine is under active operations since early eighties. The State Government has renewed & executed the lease twice prior to 1st April 2015 i.e. on 4th April 1990 & 9th July 2015. The Mine is located at a distance of 2.55km from the nearest Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has notified Eco Sensitive Zone of 1 km for the said wildlife sanctuary. Environment Clearance has been obtained to produce 1,54,000 tons (0.154 million tons) of Iron Ore annually at this Mine, vide Ministry of Environment & Forests letter No. J-11015/344/2005.IA.II (M) dated 9th February 2007. The subject mine has a valid approved Mining Plan for lease renewal upto year 2027, approved by Regional Office vide their office letter No. MMP / MECH-60/GOA/2015-16, dated 23rd June 2016. State Government has approved Cadastral Plan prepared after DGPS (Differential Global Positioning Syste m) survey for an area admeasuring 54.3804 Hectares in place of earlier area of the concession being 55.4000 Hectares.
