Join Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and the University of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico to discover the extraordinary abundance and diversity of birds in this global biodiversity hotspot! Over 520 bird – including 91 endemic and near-endemic species, plus most of the migratory species from western North America. All in an area less than 1/8 the size of Colorado!

RMBO Conservation Birding Tours combine world class birding with science education to raise awareness for the conservation of continentally-important bird areas. Trips are geared toward natural resource professionals and serious nature enthusiasts who enjoy getting off the beaten path. Learn about conservation efforts, experience local culture, see lots of amazing birds – and support conservation! 100% of proceeds support in Western Mexico. On this trip we’ll explore the Sierra de Manantlán and Chamela- Cuitzmala biosphere reserves, two of Mexico’s most important protected areas, and stay overnight at research stations in the reserves’ core zones – areas that are closed to the public. We’ll also visit other key sites to experience the full diversity of birds and habitats of the region. Some of the unique birds we might see include Long-tailed Wood-, Singing , Lilac-crowned , Mexican Parrotlet, Colima Pygmy-, Eared Poorwill, , Bumblebee , Flammulated Flycatcher, Slaty, Dwarf, and Golden vireos, Chestnut-sided Shrike- Vireo, Aztec Thrush, Red-breasted Chat, Red Warbler and many more!

This 7-night, all-inclusive trip costs $2500 per person (excl. airfare to Guadalajara, Jalisco). The trip is limited to 8 participants, and will include at least two bilingual guides at all times.
