In the Federation (FBiH), the preparation of the Una National Park (NP) management plan and Blidinje Nature Park management plan have been completed and adopted. An Executive Director for UNA NP has now been appointed. In the RS, all management plans and related PA baseline ecological assessments for the NPs and Forest Reserves (FRs) have been contracted and will be finalized by February 2012. Page 1 of 5 Public Disclosure Authorized The World Bank Report No: ISR5197 Protected Area (PA) Financing. In the FBiH, government has allocated EUR 250,000, for UNA NP and an additional EUR 250,000 for PA finance. In the Republika Srpska (RS), Government budget support to the NPs in 2010 was at least 15% (600,000KM) of their operating costs, and was provided in regular monthly transfers. This level of funding is assured until 2013 and represents a significant achievement given that in 2008 budget support comprised less than 5% of requirements. Capacity and Support for Biodiversity Conservation. Training on business planning for PAs was provided in the RS and consultants are being selected for preparation of a public awareness and outreach strategy. In FBiH, training in business planning, ecosystem-based management and application of the Protected Areas Management Effectiveness (PAME) tracking tool has commenced. The Local Initiatives Program will begin in both Entities by February 2012. Prihvaćeno: 05.01.2014. This paper examines the memory practices of the memorial complex at Mrakovica at the Kozara National Park in the Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The original concept of the memorial site, founded in 1972, was to keep the Kozara-epos alive. The erected monument, the memorial wall and the museum were built to remember one of the biggest battles during the Second World War on Yugoslav soil during which more than ten thousand Partisan fighters and civilians lost their lives. During the communist era the memorial site fit into the official memory frame: the high number of casualties, especially civilians, was put into the foreground and the Partisans in their struggle for liberation were glorified. The key component of the official narrative was the slogan brotherhood and unity. After the armed conflict in the 1990s, the site underwent several transformations. New memorial frames were set by nationalists; thus history and memory were thereby de- and reconstructed. The new narrative included not only victims of the Second World War but exclusively those victims belonging to the ethnic group of Serbs of the First World War and the conflict in 1992-95.

    Bosnia and Herzegovina: Public Opinion on Foreign Influence and Violent Extremism March 7, 2019 – March 26, 2019 Detailed Methodology • The survey was conducted on behalf of the International Republican Institute’s Center for Insights in Survey Research by Ipsos Bosnia and Herzegovina. • Data was collected between March 7 and 26, 2019, through in-home, in-person interviews using the CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) method. • A total of 2,190 interviews were completed with an overall margin of error of +/- 2.1% at the midrange of the 95-percent confidence level for the full sample. • A nationally representative sample was based on a multistage stratification proportionate to population sample distribution, with a random selection of households and respondents within each Primary Sampling Unit (PSU). The first level was the region and the second level was urbanity. • Using data from the 2013 census as statistical reference for sample design, the sample is made up of citizens of BiH, aged 18+. • Sampling frame: address registry within strata defined by region and type of settlements (urban and rural). • Targeted oversampling was conducted in four areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina that have been identified as susceptible to radical tendencies: Zenica-Doboj Canton (n=148), Una-Sana Canton (n=188), Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (n=206) and Republika Srpska East (n=102). Oversampling in these areas sought to yield more specific insights into the public’s perception of the role of religion in society, the presence of extremism, and interethnic tension, among others. • Households were selected by a random route technique. • Respondent selection was made using random selection, any member of a household with the same probability (SRSWoR).

The five-day conference was the first op- portunity for people working in protected areas of the western Balkans to meet, exchange ideas and network after more than 20 years. After six years of successful cooperation with the minis- tries responsible for nature protection in the region, WWF started the project “Dinaric Arc Parks” in early 2012, to create an association of nature and national parks in the territory of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Ko- sovo*, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
