The Preserve Newsletter of the Council of Motor Clubs APRIL 2019 The Vital Link for Motoring Clubs Your 2019 Committee PRESIDENT’S REPORT Executive Committee Terry Thompson OAM President Hi Folks, VSWG, RSAC & Govt. Liaison / AHMF Delegate A number of things in the last few months seem to be all about the idea of uniform standards across the country. Tony De Luca Vice President & SSC This has been a perennial argument between the states whenever the topic comes Karen Symington up. Our connections in Transport NSW tell us of the lack of agreement being frus- trating. VSB 14 for example is a standard which covers modifications to light vehicles. General Secretary & SSC NSW and WA have adopted it but not the other states for their own reasons. Kay De Luca It has come to a head somewhat due to the Qld authorities defecting 4WDs from the Treasurer/Affiliations & SSC southern states when they cross over the border into Qld. They comply with the rules in the state they come from but not those used by Qld it seems. AHMF is General Committee moving towards an attempt to get things standardized but who knows how that will Lester Gough fair when the states begin their squabbles about rights etc. Membership Secretary Road rules is another prickly thing that affects anyone who travels interstate. NSW rules can be different when it comes to all sorts of issues on the road. Take the issue Tony O'Donnell found in the SA magazine by Lester Gough. When you come to a Give Way sign over ACMC / Vehicle Standards & there you must give way to ALL traffic until it is completely clear.
