Since the success of the Golden State Warriors in the NBA over the last seasons, the number of three point attempts are rising exponentially. The Warriors have in Steph Curry and Klay Thompson two of the all-time best shooters who have extended every notion of shooting range almost up to half court. Last year, the Houston Rockets with James Harden finished the season taking more threes than two point shots! Whether this crazy amount of threes is a justified shot selection, is pure mathematics. Whenever you hit those shots at a percentage that is high enough, it is a good shot because it results in 3 instead of 2 points. And the combination of more focus on shooting, better coaching and transforming player profiles makes that the percentage of hitting three point shots is going up in the NBA, despite the higher volume in shots. Nowadays, in a regular NBA game, almost all shots are either lay-ups/dunks or either three point shots. Older players like Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade seem to be some of the last survivors of a so- called mid-range game. And the fans … they seem to LOVE it, since the NBA keeps expanding its global popularity worldwide. The idea prioritize ‘high percentage shots’ is not new though. Already in 1993, Vance Walberg (former NBA assistant coach) was founder in 1997 of the Dribble Drive Motion Offense.

    2016-17 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GUIDE Sandra Dongmo Krystal Luciano Sydni Epps Olivia Askin Aleana Leon Ashunae Durant Olivia Askin BASKETBALL PRACTICE FACILITY The Hofstra Basketball Practice Facility allows both the Hofstra Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs around-the-clock access as they train and develop their student-athletes to compete for Colonial Athletic Association and NCAA Tournament berths. The 14,000-square foot practice facility is located in the north end of the David S. Mack Physical Education Center and features a new court with eight baskets, a sound system, a filming system with smart TV for video, signage and graphics. The year-round, dedicated basketball facility also houses an athletic training area that includes cardio equipment. The facility includes banners commemorating both program’s retired jerseys, wall graphics representing the postseason appearances of each team and information on the many professional athletes each squad has produced. There are also graphics celebrating the great history of both Hofstra Basketball programs. The practice facility floor is an exact match of the main floor of the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The Virgin Islands opened up a 16-9 lead in the first quarter with just 4:08 into the game. El Salvador overturned this deficit by outscoring the USVI 14-2 over a four and a half minute stretch to take a five-point lead with just over a minute left in the first quarter. Taylor Jones scored the last five points of the quarter for the Virgin Islands, which tied the game 23-23 going into the second quarter. El Salvador chipped away at the deficit throughout the third quarter and got within 5 points with 2:27 left. The Virgin Islands answered by scoring 8 of the quarter’s last 12 points to lead 64-55 heading into the fourth quarter. El Salvador was unable to close the gap under 7 points in the fourth quarter.
