Thank you to the Town of Sexsmith for hosting the event this evening. INTRODUCTION TO PAZA BOARD OF DIRECTORS Shelly introduced the PAZA Board of Directors in attendance and recognized directors who were unable to attend. Shelly then introduced staff and contractors in attendance and recognized those who were unable to attend. This year PAZA received over 920 hours of voluntary time and resources. Thank you to all those who volunteer their time and expertise to contribute to the success of PAZA. MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Sharon Nelson, PAZA’s Chair, provided the message from the chair. She provided a brief history of her interest in PAZA as well as PAZA’s beginnings. 2 “Environmental Monitoring – Alberta’s Shifting Paradigm.” Presented by Mr. Ernie Hui, CEO Environmental Monitoring, Alberta Environment and Sustainable of Resource Development. See attached slides. See attached slides. Administration ADOPTION OF 2012 AGM MEETING MINUTES The 2012 Annual General Meeting Minutes were accepted as presented by consensus. 2011 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Elizabeth Bell presented the 2012 Financial Statements as prepared by BDO. The financial statements were originally presented by Shawna Fehr, and approved by consensus at the April 17, 2013 General Board Meeting. NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS PAZA BOARD OF DIRECTORS Shelly Pruden announced the resignation of Greg Smith in the Spring of 2013, and the appointment of Okey Obiajulu as interim director on behalf of Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. Also, announced were the recent resignations of Drennen Hallett as public member, and Jamie Hallett as Industry member. 3 No other nominations or resignations were received. The PAZA membership approved the Board of Directors as presented. What can we learn from the data? • How is PAZA’s data used? • To understand: – What pollutants are impacting our air quality – Short and long terms data trends – Compare to provincial standards (AAAQOs) – How our air quality compares to other regions – Health risk associated with air quality • Public outreach and education • Provided to organizations and government agencies responsible for policy development and management Air Quality Health Index • A tool designed to help us understand what the air quality around us means to our health • Health risk based scale • Provides health messaging ic • Provides air quality forecast • Real time AQHI on our website Air Quality Health Index • PAZA region enjoyed low or moderate risk AQHI ratings over 99.8% of 2012 What does the data in our region tell us?
