His father Tommy Tedesco was a session guitarist and was part of the group of musicians known fondly as the “Wrecking Crew”. Tommy was considered the most recorded guitarist in history of the music business. Often attending recording sessions in his teen years with his father, Damon knew then that he wanted to be a recording engineer. For the last twenty-five years, Damon Tedesco has specialized as a recording engineer in music for film and television. Most of his time has been spent on the Warner Bros. and the 20th Century Fox scoring stages working with live orchestras. He is currently the music scoring stage manager at the Fox Newman Scoring Stage. Recent credits include Toy Story 4, Men In Black International, and Spiderman Far From Home. He has recorded and mixed hundreds of commercials, TV shows, films and documentaries. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Communication Arts with an emphasis on Recording Arts and also taught at LMU from 1997-2001. Damon has worked with UCLA Extensions for the past 5 years as a recording engineer supporting classes such as Film Scoring, Orchestration, and Writing for Strings. Damon has a firm and supportive style of teaching, which many of his UCLA students have come to admire. He is very excited to share his vast knowledge and experience of recording and mixing with his students as well as sharing the life skills that you need to survive in the recording business. One of the emerging arenas for this is game scoring. Originally the domain of all synth/sample scores, game music now uses full orchestras, along with synth/sample libraries. To gain a feel for this industry, and to help you, the reader, decide if game scoring is something you want to pursue, Film Music Magazine has established an unprecedented panel in print: six top video game composers with varying styles and musical tastes, plus top game composer agent Bob Rice of Four Bars Intertainment. As you read the interviews, it will become quickly apparent that while there are many Let’s pretend that you’ve started a new music school course just for game composers.
