Union Cabinet approves Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY)
ABRY will also incentivize the creation of new employment opportunities under Atmanirbhar Bharat Package 3.0. The Cabinet approved an expenditure of Rs. 1,584 crores for the current financial year and ₹ 22,810 crores for the entire scheme period from 2020 to 2023. The scheme will provide subsidy for two years in respect of new employees engaged on or after October 1, 2020, and up to June 30, 2021.
Centre Launches QRMP scheme for GST payers
GoI launched ‘Quarterly Return filing & Monthly Payment of Taxes (QRMP)’ scheme for small taxpayers under the GST system. Taxpayers with an aggregate annual turnover of up to Rs 5 crore in the preceding financial year and have filed their October GSTR-3B (sales) return by November 30, 2020, are eligible for this scheme. The notifications for the same were issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

UNESCO has launched an international award named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman following Bangladesh’s proposal. The UN agency’s executive board unanimously adopted the proposal on UNESCO- Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Prize for the “Creative Economy” in its 210th session. This is the first time a UN agency launched an award named after Bangabandhu.

The conference focused on discussions around India’s economic and investment outlook, structural reforms and the government’s vision for making the country a USD 5 trillion economy. The Virtual Global Investor Roundtable (VGIR) was organised by the Ministry of Finance and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of HCL Technologies, ranked second (Rs 795 crore) on the list. He topped the list in 2019. India’s richest man and the chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani stood at the third spot (Rs 458 crore).

Atal tunnel built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway in Himachal Pradesh. The total length of the tunnel is 9.02 km and at an elevation of 3,100 metres (10,171 ft). The overall cost of completion of the project is around Rs. 3200 crore.

India conducts successful night trial of nuclear- capable Prithvi-2 missile
Prithvi-2 missile from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur near Balasore, off Odisha coast. The state-of-the-art missile is India’s first indigenous surface-to-surface strategic missile, developed by DRDO under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme. The 9- metre tall liquid-propelled Prithvi-2 has a range of 350 km and can carry a 1-tonne warhead. It uses Advanced Inertial Guidance System (AIGS) with manoeuvring trajectory to reach the target with a few metre accuracy. It has been designed to deliver advanced warheads deep into enemy territory. The missile dives at the target at an 80-degree angle.

The Japanese research and brokerage house Nomura has projected India to be the fastest-growing Asian economy in 2021. Nomura has estimated the gross domestic product (GDP) growth of India for the calendar year 2021 (CY21) at 9.9%. For the calendar year 2020 (CY20), Nomura expects GDP growth at - 7.1 per cent. 66. Fitch Ratings has revised the GDP growth rate for India in its Global Economic Outlook, to contract 9.4 per cent in the current financial year 2020-21. Fitch has also projected the FY22 GDP growth at 11 per cent and 6.3 per cent growth in FY23. 67. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has projected India’s economy to contract 8 per cent in 2020. ADB also expects the GDP of India to bounce back with growth of 8.0 per cent in 2021.

The State Bank of India, in its research report ‘Ecowrap’ has revised the GDP growth of India at (-) 7.4 percent in FY21. The SBI research report has also forecast India’s GDP growth in FY22 at 11 percent. 71. The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) has projected the Indian economy to contract 7.3 per cent in FY21. 72. India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has revised India’s GDP estimate for the current financial year 2020-21 (FY21) to -7.8 per cent from -11.8 per cent estimated earlier. Ind-Ra has also estimated the GDP to grow by 9.6% in 2021-22 (FY22). 73. ICRA Ratings expects the technical recession in the country's economy to end in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal, limiting the contraction in the GDP to 7.8 per cent in the financial year 2021.

REIT stands for Real Estate Investment Trust. 81. ICICI Bank has announced that it is collaborating with Google to issue FASTag. It has become the first bank to join hands with Google Pay for the issuance of FASTag. 82. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed monetary penalty on DCB Bank and Jio Payments Bank for various rule violations. India has been ranked at 4th position, with a score of 39.7 out of 100, in the Asia Power Index 2020, released by the Sydney-based Lowy Institute. The United States has retained its position as the most powerful country influencing the Asia- Pacific with a score of 81.6.
