The Transporter Bridge in Newport is one of just six such working bridges in the world and last year more than 15,000 people visited the heritage attraction. Last year was the first time that visitors were able to walk across the top of the bridge as part of a normal visit and nearly 5,000 people took advantage of this and climbed to the highest point of any of the Transporter Bridges worldwide.
