It is our pleasure to welcome yo u to the 8th Annual National Investment Banking Competition and Conference (NIBC). OPENING KEYNOTE SPEAKER Mr. David Rawlings Chief Executive Officer, J.P. Morgan Chase Canada
Mr. Rawlings is Chief Executive Officer for J.P. Morgan Chase in Canada. He is based in Tor onto and has responsibility for the Corporate and Investment Bank, Asset Management, the Commercial Bank , Chase CardServices and Merchant Services business locally. Heleads the regulatory agenda in Canada as CEO, J.P. Morgan Bank Canada; CEO, J.P. Morgan Securities Canada Inc; and Principal Officer, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank N.A., Toronto Branch. Mr. Rawlings also runs the J.P. Morgan Chase Foundation for Canada, which focuses on philanthropic investments in community development and education across the country.
Beyond the firm, he is a strong advocate for Canada and promoting its continued gr owth and prosperity. Mr. Rawlings is a member of the Business Council of Canada and the Young Pr esidents’ Organiz ation. He also sits on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bankers Association and the Cabinet of the United Way Toronto and York Region.
Previously, Mr. Rawlings led J.P. Morgan’s relationships with several global asset management, pension and hedge fund clients from New York. Prior to that, he ran the global relationship management group at Bear St earns and was co-head of the Canadian Division. Mr. Rawlings has prior experience at Credit Suisse in New York and Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto. Mr. Rawlings graduat ed from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He and his wife, Tasha, have two daughters.

Darren Throop, President & CEO of Entertainment One (eOne), has a 25-year track record in building and managing entertainment companies. His career in the industry began in 1991 when he founded an independent chain of retail music stores.
Throop took the company public in 2003 and has since grown eOne’s global footprint through a series of growth initiatives and corporate acquisitions across all areas of entertainment.

Philip founded NIBC in 2009 and has led the efforts of board members as well as written the cases on Alternative Investmentsmining, gaming and media & telecom. Philipgrew up in Germany and joined a media startup in London (UK) aft er graduation. Helater worked for UBSinmetals & mining equities research as well as Macquarie Capital in infrastructure investment banking covering West Coast clients including in Las Vegas.
Mr. Brenden Lee | NIBC Board Member
Brenden joined NIBC in 2012 on the organizing team and expanded the competition to the US, Asia and Europe. He worked at Oaktr ee Capital Management within the pow er opportunities group in Los Angeles prior to being with Evercore Partners in Toronto focusing on mergers and acquisitions across multiple industries.

Olya was part of the NIBC organizing team in 2016 and has since joined RBC CapitalMarkets in New York in the Financial Sponsors Group.
Ms. Sofiia Salimova | NIBC Organizing Team, Conference Director
Sofiia is part of the NIBC 2017 organizing team and a student at the University of British Columbia. She interned at Catalyst Capital Group and is a reci pient of the Russi an National Gov ernment Award for Academic Excellence.

Mr. Noam Gilead | Experience: J.P. Morgan, RBC Global Asset Management, OTPP
Noam Gilead is a 1st year associate on the J.P. Morgan’s Corporate Finance Advisory team. Corporate Finance provides advice to major global corporations on key financial policy decisions and devel ops structured pr oducts. Prior to his career in investment banki ng, Noam compl eted internshi ps at RBC Global Asset Management - Phillips, Hager & North (2011) and OntarioTeachers' Pensi on Plan (2010), worked at R elaxus Product Ltd. as an E-Commerce website manager (2007-2010) and served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as a lieutenant at a first-line paratrooper’s bat talion and as part of the commanding staff of the communications officers course (2002-2006).
Noam is an Israeli/Canadi an and was born in Tel Aviv. He earned a Bac helor of Commerce degree with honors (2012) at the U niversity of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and is a Leslie Wong Fellow. Noam was a part of the founding team of NIBC in 2009.
Mr. David Lam | Experience: Macquarie Capital
David Lam is an Associate in M acquarie Capital’s investment banki ng team in New York. Previously, he worked in commercial lending at GE Capital and in equity research at Global Sec urities. David served as the Vic e-President Finance for the UBC Commerce Undergraduate Soci ety during 2011-2012, overlooki ng a $1.3 million annual budget for over 2,900 students. He was an active vol unteer for Atira Women’s Resource Society, a community-based organization that supports women and their children who are impacted by violence.
As a delegate of the first National Investment Banki ng Competition in 2009 and chairperson from 2012 to 2014, David has continued supporting the ev ent as an active board member.
Mr. Nathan Tippe | Experience: Goldman Sachs, CIBC World Markets
Nathan Tippe is an Associate ontheNaturalResources Investment Banking team at GoldmanSachs in New York, covering primarily chemicals and metals & mining clients. Nathan began his career with CIBC in Vancouver in 2012 before transitioning to Goldman Sachs in 2014.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honors from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the junior board of BuildOn, a nonprofit organization that operate afterschool programs in the U.S. and school construction in developing countries.

Haroon Chaudhry is an Associate in the Investment Banking gr oup at BMO Capital Markets. Haroonstarted as an Analyst with BMO in 2011and has covered a variety of industries ranging from mining to technol ogy. He has extensive transactional experience having advised on ov er $10 billion in M&A and financings.
Haroon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance with honors fr om the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
Ms. Julie Shin | Experience: RBC Capital Markets
Julie Shin is an Associate in the Consumer and Industrial Products Group at RBC Capital Markets. Julie joined the Vancouver office of RBC Capital Markets in September 2014 before transferring to Toronto in January 2016. Julie has been actively i nvolved in a wide range of corporate advisory assignments during her time at RBC, including initial public offerings, equity financings and M&A assignments.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of British Columbia.

Jayden Van is an Associate in the Investm ent Banking division at TD Sec urities. Based in Toronto, he works in the Mergers & Acquisitions group covering a wide variety of industries. Prior to joining TD, Jayden spent time in Sales & Tradi ng at CIBC Capital Markets and started upa real estate devel opment company. Ms. Nicole Ponto | Experience: Jefferies, CIBC Wood Gundy
Nicole has been working as an Analyst at Jefferies in their Ener gy Group in Houston since 2017 after spending a summer there in 2016. Nicole led the NIBC organizing team in 2015 and 2016 overseeing the conference, sponsorship and marketing. She grew up in Calgary and later moved to Vancouver, where she graduated from the University of British Columbia.

Andr ew McCreath has ov er 20years in the investment business with seven as a sell-side analyst and 14 as a portf olio manager. Thismeans he can provide valuabl e i nsight and perspective into the business world to BNN viewers, as he does on WEEKLY WITH ANDREW MCCREATH. McCreath hel ped start, build and sell two investment management businesses. First, in December of 1997 he was a founding shareholder of Syner gy Mutual Funds and in 2004 he was the founding shareholder of Waterfall Investments, selling it to Sentry Investment in 2008. At Sentry, McCreath managed theDiversified Total Return mutual fund,winner of 2010 Lipper Award (Canadian focused equity category), and the Sentry M arket Neutral Hedge Fund, winner of the 2010Morningstar Canadian Investment Aw ard for Best Relative ValueHedge Fund. During the Fall of 2012, McCreath launched another asset management (or investment management) company, Forge First Asset Management McCreath has a BBA in Finance, an MBA in Economics from York University and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Intralinks Presents: Wine & Cheese (November 30th, 2017 Ð 4:30pm to 5:50pm)
A large number of industry professionals with work experience in various financial centers, including New York, London, Hong Kong, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, will be keen to share their experiences with delegates in a relaxed environment over refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
Gala Dinner & Final Round (November 30th, 2017 Ð 5:50pm to 9:00pm)
The Competition and Conference culminates at the Gala Dinner, where a three-course dinner will be served in the Regency Ballroom at Hyatt Regency Hotel. The dinner will feature the Competition’s Final Round where the top 4 teams out of the initial 224 preliminary teams from ac ross North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia will present to a judging panel of senior managing directors from leading Canadian investment banks and compete for a prize pool of $15,000. The Gala Dinner will conclude with an awards ceremony, announcing the winners of the Competition.
Evening Event (November 30th, 2017 Ð 10:00pm to 12:00am)
NIBC 2016 will feature three Ev ening Ev ents . On Day 1, NIBC will host a competitors reception in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom. Af t er the Gala Dinner on Day 2, delegates over 19 years of age are invited to attend the Ev ening Ev ent. These Ev ening Ev ents provide the perfect opportunity for delegates to network with industry professionals and their aspiring peers outside of the Conference environment.

The Final Round of the Competition will be held on November 29th and 30th at the Hyatt Regency Toronto, and will culminate at the Gala Dinner.
This year’s Competition had ov er 300 teams from 100+ universities from across North America, South America, Asia, and Europe participating in the First Round. The First Round Case was a comprehensive valuation of media entertainment company, Netflix.
32 Undergraduate and 32 Graduate teams have been invited to compete in the Final Round during the Conference. The top 2 Undergraduate and 2 Graduate teams will be selected to present their live pitch to a panel of senior managing directors from leading Canadian investment banks and to over 300 student delegates and industry professionals at the Gala Dinner. A prize pool of $15,000 will be awarded to the winning teams for their accomplishments.

Mr. Alan Polak, Managing Director, Financial Institutions Group, TD Securities
Alan Polak is a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at TD Securities. Mr. Polak has over 20 years of experience as a financial institutions and mergers & ac quis it ions investment banker. Prior to TD, he held positions at CIBC World Markets and Scotia Capital Markets and was an original equity partner in Genuity Capital Markets. Mr. Polak has worked on a broad range of advisory as s ignments and financing mandates ac ross a variety of industries and complex situations. He leads TD's coverage of as s et managers, specialty finance businesses and fintech companies. Mr. Polak is a CFA charterholder. He obtained his DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford, MA from the University of Toronto and BA from Western University.
Mr. David Garg, Managing Director, Scotiabank Global Banking & Markets
David Garg is a Managing Director with 14 years of Financing and M&A experience at Scotiabank, primarily in Financials Services. David has been involved in a number of M&A transactions ac ross the insurance and as s et management space. He began his career at Scotiabank in 2003 after graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Business and Administration at the Sc hulic h School of Business. Some of David’s most prominent transactions include E-L Financial’s $1.1 billion divestiture of Dominion General to Travelers, Manulife’s $4.0 billion acquisition of St andard Life Canada, and Co-operator’s Group’s, and the $3.6 billion ac quis it ion of TMX by Maple Group Acquisition Corp.
Mr. Mark Caiger, Managing Director, BMO Capital Markets
Mark is a Managing Director in the Mergers & Ac quis it ions group and has a broad range of M&A transactional ex perienc e including advising on: public and private sale transactions, unsolicited take-over bids and responses, going-private transactions, proxy fights and cross-border transactions. Mark is also part of BMO Capital Markets’ market-leading restructuring practice. Mark has advised on formal and informal restructuring transactions involving a broad range of implementation strategies including: CBCA recapitalizations, recapitalizations by creditor vote, rights of f erings and other public/private capital markets solutions, public company CCAA filings and cross-border CCAA / Chapter 11 filings. Mark has advised the majority of large public companies involved in CBCA recapitalizations since 2000. Mark has also advised on structuring, negotiating and ex ec ut ing debt and equity financings both in connection with M&A and restructuring transactions as well as ordinary course financings. Mark has a Bachelor of Commerce (with honours) from Queen’s University. He is also a Chartered Ac c ount ant, a CFA Charterholder and a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada.
Mr. James McKenna, Managing Director, RBC Capital Markets
James McKenna is a Managing Director in the Communications, Media and Technology Investment Banking Group. Since joining the firm in 2000, James has worked on variety of transactions including both equity and debt financings, buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory assignments. Prior to joining RBC, James spent several years in the Latin American Finance Group for an International telecommuncations company. James holds a B.A. in Ec onomic s from McGill University and an MBA (Finance) from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal.
