Dubbed “Mr. Moonlight” in Time Magazine, his father John, was the pioneer and founder of landscape illumination starting the firm John Watson Landscape Illumination in 1952. Shannon followed in the footsteps of “Mr. Moonlight” for over twenty-three years and has become the heir of their brilliant landscape illumination “design build” company for projects around the world. As a young man and throughout his high school years, Shannon spent his time away from school learning all the different trades of the company. He began in the warehouse and manufacturing division to learn each integral part of lighting equipment and its proper uses. He then became an installer of the lighting units and chief technician of installations around the United States. Before graduating from high school, he mastered the departments of drafting, accounting and operations.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 16, 2016 JIMMY WALKER SET TO DEFEND TITLE NUMEROUS TOP RANKED PLAYERS ALREADY COMMITTED CURRENT OPEN CHAMPION & TWO-TIME VALERO TEXAS OPEN WINNER ZACH JOHNSON RETURNING TO SAN ANTONIO SAN ANTONIO, TX – In conjunction with its annual Media Day this morning, tournament officials announced some early player commitments including the return of last year’s champion Jimmy Walker for the 2016 Valero Texas Open, scheduled for April 21-24 at the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. Walker, who lives in nearby Boerne, became the fourth San Antonio-area resident to win the Valero Texas Open when he prevailed by four strokes over Jordan Spieth in his victory here last year. Walker was one of only four players in the field to post four sub-par rounds and at the time became the first multiple winner for the TOUR’s 2014-2015 season, having successfully defended his Sony Open in Hawaii title a few months earlier. By season’s end, Walker advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs for a sixth consecutive season and was ranked 16th in the FedExCup standings. “Jimmy has been a great champion for us throughout the year and we are excited to have him come back and defend his title,” said the tournament’s Executive Director Larson Segerdahl. “He and his wife Erin are great ambassadors for the San Antonio area and for the game of golf. We could not have been prouder to have him as our champion this year and consider him a member of the Valero Texas Open family.” Walker will have some of the world’s top ranked players, fellow Valero Texas Open champions and some major championship winners to compete against in what is the third oldest PGA TOUR event on the schedule.

By Ron Whitten Photos by Golf Digest Resource Center May 4, 2009 Long before there was TPC Sawgrass, there was the TPC at Sawgrass: the Tournament Players Championship (now the Players) at Sawgrass CC. The original Sawgrass, located across Florida Highway A1A from its successor, was a residential development/resort course pumped from a swamp hard against the Atlantic shoreline south of Jacksonville, designed with myriad humps and bumps by the late Ed Seay (before he became partners with Arnold Palmer) to resemble Troon, if Troon had palms and ponds. Sawgrass hosted the tour's marquee event for five years, from 1977 to 1981. We forget now just how ferocious Sawgrass was back then, how it set the tone for Pete Dye's subsequent TPC Sawgrass. Sawgrass was the frying pan to TPC's fire. It was Swamp Thing to Dye's Creature from the Black Lagoon. It was the storm before the tsunami. patience was a must: McCullough (top) started fast with a 66 and held on to finish second in '77.
