Is This Enough Rope? Bike Race (from Page 1) Imagine this: a rope is placed around the earth at the equator. (That‘s about 40,000 kms.) How much longer would the rope have to be to allow a person two metres tall to walk under it anywhere around the equator? (That is, the rope at every point is two metres above the ground.)

The answer might be 12kms, 120kms or 1,200kms

You Want More? Well, what if the rope only had to be long enough to allow it to be lifted up two metres at one point to along in front of us. We cheered and cheered and allow our hemisphere hopper to pass under? The James threw his drink bottle to Fraser and Damien answer might be 3mm. 3m. or 3kms. threw his drink bottle near Steiglitz and Harris has it. See page 12 for the answers. The riders rode in a circuit starting at the Anakie School and then went along the Slate Quarry Road, past the Meredith School and down the Steiglitz Road. They did this three times. Somebody told us that there was a crash with James in it. Damien crashed too but they‘re both alright now. We all had a great day and we think the bike riders did to. A shared piece of writing by Ashley, Cooper, Damien, Maggie, Matthew and Riley from Meredith Primary School with thanks to Rosemary Gargan and Moya Elvey.

“The Glass Castle” by Jeanette Walls.

While Jeanette Walls was living on Park Avenue covering the Academy Awards as a journalist and Livestock attending black-tie parties at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, her parents were living in an General Cartage abandoned building on the Lower East side. The first chapter, titled ―A Woman on the Street‖ Also available describes how Jeanette was sitting in a taxi on her way to a party one night when she looked out the Bulk cartage of grain window and saw her Mum rooting through a dumpster. This is a true story of Jeanette‘s life with her family Truck & Trailer before the children left the parents and made their own lives in New York. “Tippers” Rex Walls, Jeanette‘s father was an ingenious adventurer, an inventor, a romantic with grand plans, a very intelligent man and a hopeless alcoholic.
