2011Summer Day Camp (Registration begins May 31 at 9:00 AM… This program offers a safe and fun summer experience to enjoy rain or shine! Each week will have a “theme” and one field trip (at an additional expense). Weekly activities will vary by day but will include things such as organized games, board games, movies, sports, arts and crafts, theme related activities, talent shows and of course everyone’s summer favorite- boondoggle! Parents will receive a schedule at the beginning of each week noting the highlights of each day.

Erie Canal Park Sims Store Museum/Steam Engine Exhibit… The Camillus Canal Society operates the Sims Store May - October each Saturday from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Wednesdays 10:00 AM– 2:00 PM, Thursdays 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The Sims Store is located on DeVoe Road off of Newport Road. The store is a replica of one originally constructed by John Sims prior to 1860. Sunday boat tours are available May – Oct. 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Dinner cruises are available during July and August.

The Steam Engine Exhibit contains a steam engine that was built in 1913, and was used by the L.C. Smith Typewriter Company in their Syracuse plant, which was redeveloped into Midtown Plaza. The exhibit is open Saturdays.

Trails… Beginning near Reed Webster Park and continuing all the way to Port Byron, the Town of Camillus is fortunate to have the Canal Way Trail. The stone dust trail along the canal is great for running, walking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
