If you have some spare time then please come along to any of our branch meetings. For further information see branch diaries (pg 35-37). 4 A word from our Market Drayton sub-branch In the past year the Market Drayton members have again developed and grown as a group and continue to support our local pubs in the area. We meet on a regular basis and communicate the necessary news and events through our gatherings, social media and emails. We are pleased that due to our efforts we now have six pubs from the sub branch in the GBG 2020, the Red Lion, the Bear, Salopian Star, Clive and Coffyn, William Chester and the Overall Branch POTY the Sandbrook Vaults. It is an excellent result and shows what can be achieved. Sadly over the years we have lost a few pubs in the area but credit to those who run them for having stepped up to the plate and attracted customers in these very diffi cult times and I hope that they will see and appreciate the benefi ts of CAMRA and its members. Telford nominations will be taken at branch meetings and a list of the nominated pubs and email voting details will be sent out in July. Votes can also be cast at branch meetings. Bridgnorth nomination and voting are taken at sub-branch meetings. 5 Shropshire Cider & Perry Trail Written by John Lewis PERRY Welcome to the Shropshire Cider and Perry Trail which is now incorporated for the fi rst time in Shropshire TAles. The fi rst Shropshire Cider and Perry Trail took place in 2005 with only just under thirty pubs participating. CAMRA has been asked to comment on the revised policy. This supersedes UDP Policy L16 which is less stringent than that given below. Key improvements over L16 include an extension in the time an A4 Public House must be marketed for that purpose from 2 years to 2.5 years. There is additional requirement that alternative and equivalent provision must be within 800m which we disagree with. This compares unfavourably in any case with Lambeth's 400m alternative provision requirement, and we contend that in order for proper diversity to survive, it should be removed.. Parts of the policy require strengthening, particularly proper definitions on the terminology and evidence on which such things as 'marketing', 'alternative and equivalent', 'viability' and 'to the council's satisfaction' are based. “Sites and Policies DPD | Centres, Retail and Other Town Centre Type Uses: Part 1 – 21 DM R5: Food and Drink Uses / Leisure and Entertainment a) Food and Drink Uses i.
