PROVOST. Dr. Michael D. Shonrock & Dr. Marilyn S. Abbott 07 UNIVERSITY LEADERSHIP DR. MICHAEL D. SHONROCK PRESIDENT Dr. Michael Shonrock was appointed as the 22nd president and professor of the Lindenwood University System on June 1, 2015. Prior to this appointment, Michael served as president and professor at Emporia State University and senior-vice-president and professor at Texas Tech University. Michael holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas, an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Community College Administration from Pittsburg State, and a Master of Science (M.S.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Western Illinois. DR. MARILYN S. ABBOTT PROVOST Marilyn Abbott has served as the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs since 2015. Her responsibilities include oversight of all academic programs and personnel, as well as maintaining state, regional, and national academic accreditations. Prior to assuming the role of Provost, Dr. Abbott served as Associate Provost and as Dean of the School of Sciences. As a Professor of Biology she taught courses for General Education students and for Biology majors. Before joining Lindenwood University, Dr. Abbott was involved in biological research in corporate and university settings. 08 THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES Preparing for Every Future 09 THE LINDENWOOD SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES OFFERS 8 DEGREE PROGRAMS, 24 MINORS, & 3 CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS With over 300 undergraduate students, the School of Humanities is a key contributor to the general education program, providing four required courses in composition, literature, and American history. Committed to meeting the educational needs of each student, the School of Humanities includes majors, minors, and certificate programs designed to give students the flexibility and resources needed to design their professional and personal futures. Small class sizes allow for one-on-one interaction between students and professors. Award-winning faculty members have degrees from some of the best graduate programs in the country. They are committed scholars who present at national and international conferences and publish scholarly books and articles. The School is also home to the Geographic Information Systems lab where students learn cutting-edge interdisciplinary data mapping and analysis.
