FY14: The Plan Ahead

Programming – Trends

• There is a growing acceptance of newer concepts on GEC amongst audiences • Growing fatigue from the on-going formulae fiction • Scope of greater experimentation within the broad socio- cultural parameters • Traditional channels such as Star Plus and Zee have also recently tried a number of forward concepts (the candid live stories of six courageous women - Connected Hum Tum on Zee; the struggle of a single mother - Meri Bhabhi on Star; a Muslim social – Qubool Hai on Zee) Strategy Ahead

• Sony to maintain its focussed approach towards:

I. Achieving KUSUM loyalties II. Regain/sustain leadership in METRO markets, followed by growth in 1mn+ MARKETS III. Regain in upper SECs: SEC A and SEC B IV. Regaining MALE viewers on the channel

• The strategy is based on Sony’s traditional stronghold in these target groups • Having regained the above leadership push further into 1mn+ Journey to 200+ GRPs

PARAMETERS GAPS All Day GRPs 50 Primetime GRPs 40 OffPrime GRPs 10 Weekday GRPs (Mon-Fri) 40 Females 25 Males 25 SEC AB 30 Digital GRPs 45 Focus Areas

• FICTION has to deliver! Build a strong pipe-line and commission 5 shows in the next 4-6 weeks • Need to boost weekday primetime by starting programming earlier i.e. increase the number of original programming hours (min of 4.5 hours/day) • Getting 1mn+ markets while maintaining/regaining our strength in metros • Focus on getting more females and regain leadership in males • Getting shows which add to Sony’s key TGs of SEC AB, while also not alienating SEC C FPC – June to August 2013
