Many of us know Manitoba only as a Prairie province. While we certainly have vast expanses of prairies, people are sometimes amazed to learn that about 60 per cent of our province is boreal- forested Canadian Shield wilderness. Between prairie and boreal forest are regions of lush, green parkland. Our entire province is dotted with thousands of crystal clear lakes filled with freshwater fish and connected to streams and rivers that eventually find their way north across tundra landscapes to our ocean coast at Hudson Bay. Manitoba is a province of such diverse and incredible beauty that appreciating the landscapes and abundant wildlife resources really does mean experiencing them in person.
