About this Production Annie Get Your Gun opened on Broadway May 16, 19A 6, at the Imperial Theatre. The production was produced by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and ran for 1,147 performances. It starred and Ray Middleton and was directed by Joshua Logan.

A revival of Annie Get Your Gun opened on May 31, 1966, at the New York State Theater under the auspices of Music Theater of Lincoln Center. The show was directed by Jack Sydow and starred Ethel Merman and Bruce Yarnell. For this production Irving Berlin wrote one new number while minor book revisions by Herbert and Dorothy Fields included tlje elimination of two secondary characters, their songs and ensuing romance. It is that revised version of the musical that has been available for production since and is the one you are seeing this evening.

About this Production Grease had its premiere performance February 14, 1972, at the Eden Theatre, New York City, and ran for an astounding 3,388 performances making it second on y to A Chorus Line in the length of run (it is now number seven on the all-time list). The show was revived in 1994 and that production has now run over 1,100 performances and is still appearing on Broadway and in national tours.

Cuaig Ellingson recently received his MFA in directing from MSU. He directed the Theatre Phoenix production of Falsettos, Highland Sum mer Theatre's production of Annie Warbucks, and performed on the Ted Paul stage as "Harold Hill" in The Music Man,"Pirelli" in Sweeney Todd and "Greg" in A Chorus Line for which he received a Keimedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan nomination. Criaig performed in Highland Summer Theatre's 1995 productions as "Albert Peterson" in Bye Bye Birdie,"Gary Lefkowitz" in I Hate Hamlet emd'Hines" in The Pajama Game.

Jennifer Geelan is a senior Music Education major at MSU. Music activities this year include concert choir, chamber singers and teaching private voice lessons. She has been seen in the mainstage productions oiPhantom, South Pacific, Sweeney Todd and Cotton Patch Gospel. She also served as the accompanist for Falsettos. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda.

Rusty Greene is a junior Theatre Arts major at MSU. He waislast seen as "Roat" in Wait Until Dark and played "Ligniere" in Cyrano de Bergerac. At the Theatre Phoenix he was seen as "Gerardo" in Death and the Maiden. He is the 1997-98 recipient of the Holiday Iinn Theatre Arts Scholarship.

Jaceson L. Hauser is a senior Communication Studies/Theatre major at Winona State University. Previous roles at the Ted Paul Theatre include "Paul" in A Chorus Line and roles in Pippin, South Pacific, A Few Good Men and 42nd Street. He recently received a Kennedy Center/ American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan nomination for his role as the "Baker" in Into the Woods at Winona State.

Lori Anne Johnson is a senior Theatre Arts major at MSU. She played "Du" in Keely and Du and "Cordelia" in Falsettos at the Theatre Phoe nix. Past Ted Paul Theatre productions include Phantom, Sweeney Todd, South Pacific and Oklahomal She's also been in several Highland Summer Theatre productions including Annie Warbucks and The Sound ofMusic.

-14- continued Karla J. Reck is a senior Theatre Arts major at MSU. She performed on the Ted Paul stage in She Stoops to Conquer and The Member of the Wedding and in Highland Summer Theatre productions of The Miss Firecracker Contest and California Suite. At the Theatre Phoenix she performed in Independence, Win/Lose/Draiv and Death and the Maiden. This is her second season at Highland Summer Theatre.

Erik Jon Subkoviak is a 1993 Theatre Arts graduate from MSU. He most recently played "Max Prince" in Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor at Strollers irheatre Company in Madison, WI. This is his eighth summer at Highland. Erik began his long association with HST in 1990 when he appeared in Broadway Bound. Since then, he has been featured in Thf Foreigner, Come Blow Your Horn, Anything Goes, 1776, Annie, Greater Tuna,I Hate Hamlet, California Suite, Annie Warbucks, The Miss Firecracker Contest and The Sound ofMusic.

Peter Simonson is a sophomore Theatre Arts major who appeared this past year as "Inspector LeDoux" in Phantom,"Ragueneau" in Cyrano de Bergqrac, "Doctor" in The Miracle Worker and as "Townsman" in The Music Man. He was a 1996-97 Theatre Arts Freshman Talent Grant recipient.

David Tacheny is a sophomoreTheatre Arts major and has appeared in many Ted Paul Theatre productions including Phantom and The Music Man. His HST appearances have included Lost in Yonkers, Godspell, 1776 and Bye Bye Birdie. He is involved in the Concert Choir at MSU and w;as awarded the 1997-98 Shirley Grundmeier Scholarship.

Ben Thietje is a sophomore Theatre Arts major. He has performed in several Ted P^ul Theatre productions,including Phantom, Cyrano de Bergerac and The Music Man. He was a member of the MSU Touring Children's Theatre production of Snow Queen this past winter.

Amanda D. White is a junior Theatre/EngHsh major at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She has performed in many TSU pro ductions,including A Little Night Music, Amateurs, The Fantasticks and Will Roger's FQllies. She was a 1997 KC/ACTE Irene Ryan nominee.

Andrea Jo Bilkey is a magna cum laude Theatre Arts graduate of MSU. She most recently did the lighting design for the MSU productions of Phantom ^nd Cyrano de Bergerac. She was the lighting designer for HST's Anme Warbucks and GodspelL She served as Master Electrician for HST in 1993 and 1994. She designed lights for the Ted Paul Theatre productions of A Few Good Men dind Born Yesterday.

Gary Erickspn holds an MM degree in Music Composition from Mankato State University. Gary serves as the Sound Designer and Music Director for the Theatre and as adjunct faculty for the Music Department. He teaches classes in electronic music, MIDI Technologies, Sound Design, Music Theatre, voice lessonsi and has composed original scores for several MSU theatre productions. He is back for his fifth year as Music Director for Highland Summer Theiatre.

-20- continued Paul J. Hustoles earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University and his MA from the Uniyersity of Michigan. He serves the department as Chair and Producer and had been Artistic Director of Highland Summer Theatre for the past 12 years. He has directed over 125 productions and is celebrating his 26th consecutive summer stock season. He is the immediate past Chair of Region V of the Kennedy CenterAmerican College Theatre Festival.

Esther Iverson has costumed theatre productions at Bethany Lutheran College, Gustavus Adolphus College and the Merely Players. Esther serves as the Costume Shop Supervisor for the Theare Arts Department during the academic year. She designed the costumes for a number of Highland Sum mer Theatre productions including 77ze Sound of Music, Annie Warbucks, Lost in Yonkers an^ The Pajama Game. She has a BS in Theatre Arts from MSU.

Randy York received his BA in Speech/Theatre from Wichita State Unversity and his MFA in design from the University of Minnesota. He serves as Technical Director for the department during the academic year. This is his third year at Highland. Last year he designed California Suite, The Miss Firecracker Contest and The Sound of Music. The year before he designed Bye Bye Birdie. ■

He worked as an electrician on many productions includ ing Phantom and A Chorus Line and has been on the construction crew for every main stage production in the last two year.

Mimi Clausen is a senior Theatre Arts major at MSU. She has performed on the Ted Paul stage in Phantom, The Music Man, Sweeney Todd and A Chorus Line. Mimi aslo played "Trina" in Falsettos for which she received a Kennedy CenterAmerican College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nomination.

Erin Echols is a senior in Music and Sound Recording at the University of New Haven.; She was an InternAssistant Set Designer at the Westport Country Playhouse in Connecticut and served as the Stage Manager at The Alliance Theatre Company for Black Nativity and The Diary of Anne Frank.

Wendi Fortmann is a senior Theatre Arts major at MSU. She was Production Stage Manager for the mainstage productions of The Miracle Worker and Phantom and Assistant Stage Manager for A Chorus Line and Sherlock's Last Case.

Peter Jenness received his BA in Theatre Arts from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He was Scenic Designer for the Fargo-Moorhead Commu nity Theatre production of Our Town and for the Concordia College produc tion of Taming of the Shrew '54. He also designed lighting for several produc tions at Concordia College and for The Gooseberry Park Players. He will begin his MFA in Scene Design at MSU in the fall.

Deb Kvenvold recently received her BA in Theatre Arts from MSU. She was Production Stage Manager for the Ted Paul Theatre productions of Wait Until Dark and She Stoops to Conquer and the Theatre Phoenix production of Falsettos. She has been House Manager for several mainstage productions.

Jason Lent in a junior Theatre Arts major at MSU. He has performed on the mainstage in Cyrano deBergerac, She Stoops to Conquer and Richard III. This is his second summer working at Highland Summer Theatre.

Molly Mennenga,a transfer student from Bethany Lutheran College, is a junior Theatre Arts major at MSU. She has worked as a carpenter, properties master, electrician and scenic artist on several productions at Bethany.

Rachel Mero is a senior Theatre Arts production major. She was the Proper ties Master for Cyrano de Bergerac and Sherlock's Last Case on the main stage. In the Theatre Phoenix she designed sets for Independence and Keely and Du, and served as Properties Master for The Shadow Box and Edufa. She was also the technical director for both Falsettos and Hooters. Rachel is one of the recipients of the 1997-98 Lee and Loretta Snilsberg Theatre Arts Scholarships

Liz Weiss received her Master's degree in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas and her undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University. She serves as Director of Public Relations for the Theatre Department and has served as adjunct faculty for the Mass Commu nications Department.
