Build relationships with each other for a stronger movement. Provide information that will help us better advocate for a comprehensive solution to genocide and mass atrocities in Sudan. Encourage discussion and planning on “what‘s next“ for activists that will make a Acknowledgments The Sudan Emergency Action Summit is organized by Act for Sudan. Act for Sudan is an alliance of 75 organizations that represent American citizen activists and Sudanese U.S. residents who advocate for an end to genocide and mass atrocities in Sudan. Act for Sudan is dedicated to advocacy that is directly informed by the situation on the ground and by Sudanese people who urgently seek protection, justice, and peace. Our warmest thanks to the Act for Sudan team who spent tireless hours working to make the Summit a success. We will be joined by knowledgable Sudanese experts on these issues, several of whom are them- selves exiled from Sudan because of their work on behalf of human rights. In the second part of the workshop, we will talk about the international organizations which report on these violations and discuss how to organize both on-line and in-person write for rights events to help protect and free prisoners of conscience in Sudan. We’re collecting one million handmade bones to install on the National Mall on June 8, 2013 as a visual petition. The Bone Making Workshops will provide information about the project and the event on the National Mall. We’ll be crafting bones out of clay that will be used in the June installation. Upholding Responsibility to Protect When States Fail Room 5 Facilitated by Mark Hackett Workshop focuses on historical examples of individualized R2P actions and expanding the tools activists can use to protect civilians when states refuse to do so. Voices from Sudan There are 10 unique Voices from Sudan sessions. In these workshops you will make personal connections to Sudanese leaders in the community and understand the human crises of Sudan as they share their personal journeys.
