OVO (October’s Very Own) Sound cofounder and artist Drake has signed a $19 million deal with Apple Music, the newest competitor in the growing market of music streaming, offered by Apple. This exclusive deal provides fans of Drake and the OVO Sound record label more exclusive content, provided by Apple Music’s “Connect” feature, which allows artists to distribute new content directly to their fans’ music libraries. Additionally, OVO Sound will have its own show on Apple Music’s exclusive 24hour radio station, Beats1 Radio, broadcasting every other Saturday. Fans can expect a host of exclusive new music distributed in a more personal, intimate way. more “I am very eager to begin our work with Apple Music. The format of their service is one that is very personal to me, as it allows me and other artists to have control over our body of work, that we may be able to distribute it to our fans directly whenever we feel the time is right,” Drake said, in response to the deal. Apple launched Apple Music on June 30, 2015, giving subscribers a threemonth free trial period before beginning the $9.99 per month fee for an individual plan, or a $12.99 per month fee for a shared family plan. OVO Sound was founded in 2012 by Drake and fellow collaborators and Toronto natives, Noah “40” Shebib and Oliver ElKhatib. Distributed through Warner Bros., OVO Sound has featured many successful HipHop and R&B acts, such as PARTYNEXTDOOR, ILoveMakonnen, and Majid Jordan. ### .
