REP. WOODY JENKINS MOVES QUICKLY TO ORGANIZE IN

Directors Named in 5 of 8 Districts ""a Woody Jenkins

Rep. Louis W.(Woody) Jenkins, who agreed to serve as TCC State Coordinator in April, had, by May 11, when National Director Howard Phillips visited Baton Rouge, recruited a District Director in five of Louisiana's eight Congressional Districts. A leading Democratic state legislator, who is also an official of Gun Owners of America,Jenkins organized a two-hour dinner at which Phillips met with the new District Directors on Tuesday evening. May 11. The following day,the appointments were announced at the state capitol in a press conference covered by several Louisiana newspapers, television, and radio stations. A Dutch Treat luncheon and briefing session was conducted by Howard Phillips for Baton Rouge area TCC members, following the news conference. TCC's District Directors in Louisina are: Mr. Luke Petrovich (P. O. Drawer KK, Buras, Louisiana 70041); Hon. Charles D. TEXAS CONFERENCE PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 10, 11, 12

ED NELSON BOOSTS RHODE ISLAND TCC ACTIVITY An all-morning workshop and luncheon for TCC leaders in Rhode Island was conducted on Friday, May 7 by State Coordinator Ed Nelson and National Director Howard Phillips. The meeting received coverage by Providence radio and TV stations, which sent their microphones and cameras to cover the session. Also present were 1st District Director Craig Miller (32 Williams Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island 02905/(401) 781-5900), and 2nd District Director Ernest Barone (6 Polly Drive, North Providence, Rhode Island 02911/(401) 274-9558). JOHN LACAPRA IS NEW STATE COORDINATOR On Monday, May 3, Howard Phillips met in Tallahassee, Florida with Attorney John LaCapra (Barnett Bank Building,.Suite 220, Tallahassee, Florida 32301/(904) 222-8021), who has succeeded State Senator Walter Sims as TCC Florida State Coordinator. While in Tallahassee, Phillips also met with Senator Sims and Tim Baer, Executive Director of the Florida Conservative Union,to discuss ways of encouraging greater cooperation among conservatives in Florida. Later in the day, Phillips travelled to Orlando to meet with TCC leaders in that area. LaCapra and Phillips agreed that a series of briefing sessions would be planned in Florida for the week of July 12-16, to finish the job of recruiting leaders in all 15 Florida districts.

The tape covers TCC organizing strategy, conservative principles, and an analysis of recent political developments. You may wish to make it available for broadcast on a radio station in your area, or at a local meeting.

MILWAUKEE BRIEFING SESSION SPARKS TCC WISCONSIN EFFORT Several new TCC leaders and key supporters were recruited at a briefing session conducted by Howard Phillips in Milwaukee on Monday evening. May 10. Those present included State Coordinator Alfred Regnery, Jr., (One West Main Street, P.O. Box 2236, Madison, Wisconsin 53701/(608) 257-2281) conservative leaders John Couture, Ron Stephens, and businessman John McBroom.
