Islamic Radicalization in the Uk: Index of Radicalization
ISLAMIC RADICALIZATION IN THE UK: INDEX OF RADICALIZATION Anna Wojtowicz, (Research Assistant, ICT) Sumer 2012 ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of radicalization amongst British Muslims in the United Kingdom. It begins with a review of the Muslim population, demographics and community structure. Further presenting several internal and external indicators that influenced and led to radicalization of Muslim youth in Britain. The paper concludes that there is no one certainty for what causes radicalization amongst Muslims in United Kingdom. However, it is certain that Islamic radicalization and the emergence of a homegrown threat is a growing trend that jeopardizes the countries security, peace and stability. Radicalization in the United Kingdom is an existing concern that needs to be addressed and acted upon immediately. Misunderstanding or underestimating the threat may lead to further and long term consequences. * The views expressed in this publication are solely those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT). 2 I. The Clash and Mass Media Messages from the Only Band That Matters
THE CLASH AND MASS MEDIA MESSAGES FROM THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS Sean Xavier Ahern A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS August 2012 Committee: Jeremy Wallach, Advisor Kristen Rudisill © 2012 Sean Xavier Ahern All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Jeremy Wallach, Advisor This thesis analyzes the music of the British punk rock band The Clash through the use of media imagery in popular music in an effort to inform listeners of contemporary news items. I propose to look at the punk rock band The Clash not solely as a first wave English punk rock band but rather as a “news-giving” group as presented during their interview on the Tom Snyder show in 1981. I argue that the band’s use of communication metaphors and imagery in their songs and album art helped to communicate with their audience in a way that their contemporaries were unable to. Broken down into four chapters, I look at each of the major releases by the band in chronological order as they progressed from a London punk band to a globally known popular rock act. Viewing The Clash as a “news giving” punk rock band that inundated their lyrics, music videos and live performances with communication images, The Clash used their position as a popular act to inform their audience, asking them to question their surroundings and “know your rights.” iv For Pat and Zach Ahern Go Easy, Step Lightly, Stay Free. v ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This thesis would not have been possible without the help of many, many people. -
Should I Stay Or Should I Go? a Quantitative Study of the Staff Well-Being and Turnover Problem Within the Audit Industry
Should I stay or should I go? A quantitative study of the staff well-being and turnover problem within the audit industry. Master Thesis within: Business Administration Number of Credits: 30 ECTS Program of Study: Civilekonom Authors: Oscar Davidsson & Frida Falck Tutors: Timur Uman & Mattias Sandgren Jönköping: May 2021 Master Thesis in Business Administration Title: Should I stay or should I go? Authors: Oscar Davidsson & Frida Falck Tutor: Timur Uman & Mattias Sandgren Date: 2021-05-24 Key terms: Auditing, Audit Profession, Audit firm, Employee turnover, Job satisfaction, Well-being, Willingness to stay. Abstract Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to explain how individual and strategic firm-level factors, through well-being as a mediating factor, make audit employees more prone to stay within the profession as well as to provide a more holistic picture of why they stay. Methodology: The study is built upon a positivistic standpoint with a deductive approach using a quantitative method where a survey was sent out to Swedish audit employees with at least three years of experience within the profession. The data collected were analyzed by a Harman single factor test, Spearman correlation matrix, and multiple regression analysis. Findings: The findings show that stress resilience, mentorship quality, career opportunities, and commercialization are positively related to the employee’s willingness to stay and are fully mediated through their subjective well-being. Further, the findings show that the individual expectation gap affects the willingness to stay directly and is only partly mediated through the individuals’ subjective well-being. Theoretical perspectives: The profession theory, person-organization fit theory, and motivational theory were applied to explain the variables and the willingness to stay. -

We seek refuge in Allaah from the evil of our actions and from the evil consequences of our actions. Whomever Allaah guides, there is none to misguide and whoever Allaah misguides there is none to guide. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allaah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant and messenger of Allaah.
