Welcome to a very unusual Spring. The hospitality businesses would usually be looking forward to the large number of visitors attracted to the Cotswold by The Cheltenham Festival and soon after by Easter. Neither will happen this year as far as local businesses are concerned.
The aim for all is to attempt to remain in business until lock-down ends and travel becomes acceptable. UK visitors may come in their thousands, but they will not spend as overseas visitors spend. The High Street will take a full twelve months to recover, whilst local industry will in our opinion bounce back much quicker. It does not rely on dollars, euros and yens!
BANKIER SLOAN have managed, for over 20 years on behalf of the long-time owners, the Fosseway Business Park. We have also represented many tenants and owners of commercial property in the North Cotswolds. We believe we are the only firm of Chartered Surveyors in the region that deal exclusively with commercial, industrial and retail premises.
We regularly give advice on rent reviews and lease renewals, as well as the letting and sale of premises. In recent years we have also become recognised nationally for our on-going reports on Small Business Rates Relief.

Small Business Rates Relief 2021 / 2022
Below are two tables, the first shows the rates payable from April 2021 by businesses able to claim Small Business Rates Relief who occupy a single property having a Rateable Value between £12,000 and £15,000, for the financial year 2021 / 2022. The second shows the percentage relief available for each rateable value.
Since the 1st April 2017 businesses occupying only one property with a rateable value below £12,000 should be paying NO rates.
These figures are based on the Small Business non-domestic multiplier for 2021 / 2022 which has been set by central governmentKey: RV at -49.9p Rateable in the Value pound..
