Intermarriage and Other Families This page shows the interconnection between the Townsend/Townshend family and some of the thirty-five families with whom there were several marriages between 1700 and 1900. It also gives a brief historical background about those families. Names shown in italics indicate that the family shown is connected with the Townsend/Townshend elsewhere. Baldwin The Baldwin family in Co Cork traces its origins to William Baldwin who was a ranger in the royal forests in Shropshire. He married Elinor, daughter of Sir Edward Herbert of Powys and went to Ireland in the late 16th century. His two sons settled in the Bandon area; the eldest brother, Walter, acquired land at Curravordy (Mount Pleasant) and Garrancoonig (Mossgrove) and the youngest, Thomas, purchased land at Lisnagat (Lissarda) adjacent to Curravordy. Walter’s son, also called Walter, was a Cromwellian soldier and it is through his son Herbert that the Baldwin family in Co Cork derives. On behalf of us all I extend sympathy, not only to the loved ones of all those who have died of COVID-19, but also to everyone who has been bereaved during this pandemic. Not being able to give loved ones the funeral we would really want to give them is one of the most heart-breaking aspects of the current times. Much in my prayers and yours, have been those who are ill with COVID-19 and all others whose other illnesses have been compounded by the strictures of these times. In a different way, Leaving Certificate students and their families have been much in my thoughts and prayers.

Scealta Scoile! Meitheamh 2015 It’s Summertime! School’s Out! Marymount Hospice Our rang a sé pupils gave us yet another reason to be proud by making a wonderful Confirmation commitment to improving the gardens around nearby Marymount Hospice. Gardening gloves, buckets, forks and hoes were to be seen in action on Friday mornings during the final term, in what is a heart-warming example of how young people can be a force for such good. Aside from the spectacular transformation of the beds and planted areas around Marymount, not to mention the addition of hundreds of euros worth of beautiful flowers, paid for by a cake-sale organised by the pupils, their lively presence around the facility was welcomed and enjoyed immensely by the community there. Sincere thanks to our trusty band of rang a sé parents who did so much to facilitate this work. Is álainn agus is iontach an saothar a deintear i Marymount. Belgooly WWDL APPLICATION –SECTION F ATTACHEMENTS (PART 1 AND 2) PART 1: Habitats Directive Assessment (Screening Report) in respect of Application by Cork County Council to the EPA for Wastewater Discharge License for Belgooly Agglomeration. 1 Introduction 1.1 Belgooly, a town of approximately 500 people is located on the R600 national secondary route which connects the City of Cork to Kinsale. It is situated just over 6.0 kilometres to the northeast of Kinsale on the River Stick, which on flowing through the village becomes the Belgooly River which is tidal. Kinsale is one of the busiest ‘hub towns’ in South County Cork. Increased development in Kinsale has had a direct impact on the development of outlying villages. The location of Belgooly has attracted much of this development in the form of housing which has seen the village grow over five fold in the past five to six years. 1.2 The wastewater generated in Belgooly currently discharges to the Belgooly River. The sewage generated by the new housing developments is receiving some secondary treatment from private ‘package treatment units’ . Older village areas (pre 2000) do not receive any treatment. There a r e t w Foro inspectionsepara purposeste col lonly.ection networks in the town; one which serves the majority of the towConsentn an ofd copyrightdischa ownerrges required at th fore anyco othernflu use.ence of two streams and the second collector serves four old stone houses and a bicycle shop and is believed to discharge to the river upstream of the bridge at the junction of the R600 and the R611.

File No FormBS.M.2 STATEMENT BY MICHAEL CROWLEY Lisieux. Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. (Brigade Engineer Cork III Brigade). I was born at Kilbrittain, Co. Cork, in the year 1897., being the youngest of a family of six children comprising four boys and two girls. In 1916 I was a student at Blackrock College, Dublin, and, prior to the Easter Rising, the sight of Irish soldiers in their green uniforms became familiar to us on the occasions of our walks, usiil1y taken in Dun Laoire, or on 'Free' days when we went to the city. Such sights inspired a section of the students, (rather small) who were nationally minded to form a Volunteer company within the college walls, the activities of which were confined to close order drill. I was a member of this group, but as far as I am aware, we had no contact with the Volunteer organisation; but our action indicated our knowledge of and sympathy with the resurgent spirit of the time. Our lack of contact with the Volunteers was evidenced by the fact that the Rising came as a. complete surprise to our group. A few of us discussed the possibility of getting to Dublin on or about the second day of hostilities, but found the way barred by British military units at Booterstown.
