Rodney graduated high school as the state of Maryland�s all-time leading basketball scorer with over 3,000 points. He gained a scholarship to North Carolina State University, where Monroe leads in one significant Sean Angelo Hovis statistical category. The Baltimore native finished his career as the program�s all-time Club Director leading scorer with 2,551 points, breaking David Thompson�s record. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks and played there for the 1991-92 season. After the NBA, Monroe played 14 years in Europe. In 2002, Monroe was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary men�s basketball team as one of the 50 greatest players in league history. Dan Timmerman Currently, Monroe is the Director of Basketball Operations and Head coach of men�s Club Director basketball at SouthLake Christian Academy in Huntersville, North Carolina, where he resides with his wife, Judy, and three sons, Myles, Madison, and Christian. Club Fellowship Mary S. Furtado The mural is almost finished. On Friday, October 25, 2019, there will be two Past President dedications. First, at 11 am we will be dedicating the newly renamed "Miracle Youth Services of Hickory" Park behind the Music Factory on 12th St Dr NW Hickory, NC Chair 28601. This is where the refurbished monument fro on Union Square is Karey D. Warren going to be placed. Then, at noon, we will dedicate the mural from the Club Executive Hickory City Parking deck off of Trade Alley and across from Lindy's Secretary Furniture, 233 1st Ave NW Hickory, NC 28601. Tammy Mosteller If you wish to make a donation, there are two ways you might make that Assistant Governor happen. 1- Make checks payable to The Hickory Rotary Club with Miracle of Hickory Commemoration Project on the memo line. Checks may be sent to Hickory Rotary Club, PO Box 2628, Hickory, NC 28603 or 2-You may make checks to the Rotary Club of Newton-Conover where a special account has been set up to collect funds from our club Rotarians and then will be disbursed to the Commemorative Committee with one check. Those wishing to submit contributions through the Rotary Club of Newton-Conover should have checks payable to Rotary Club of Newton-Conover, marked for the Miracle of Hickory, and delivered to Corky Upchurch, Treasurer by November 5th.
