Congratulations to Todd, who I know will continue to do great work with his team. You may have heard about a new multimedia effort called “What’s Good Rochester” that we are launching in partnership with the City of Rochester. The initiative invites filmmakers, journalists, organizations and others looking to tell Rochester’s story to submit community- created videos and photographs highlighting positive and interesting aspects of life here. The content will be shared on the City’s websites and social media outlets, as well as WXXI’s online and broadcast channels. This effort will replace CityWise, a program that was broadcast on the City’s government access channel, which WXXI has managed for more than 25 years. We look forward to sharing the many wonderful community stories that are waiting to be told and hope you’ll consider participating! If you have children and grandchildren who enjoy WXXI’s kids’ programming, keep an eye out for new children’s shows from PBS, including Molly of Denali and Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum. As you know, our children’s programming always has an educational message and helps our youngest viewers be “Ready to Learn” when they enter school. Don’t forget, we have a 24-hour Kids’ Channel that is both broadcast and streamed and very well viewed (1277 on cable, DTV 21.4, WXXI-Kids website). I look forward to seeing you at the Corn Hill Arts Festival, checking out the 6x6 artwork at RoCo, in line for a movie at the Little Theatre, or at one of our Hochstein at High Falls concerts. Have a great summer!

Best regards, Sincerely,

Norm Silverstein [email protected] | @normWXXI 3 Q&A with a WXXI CORPORATE SPONSOR ANTHONY ROAD WINE COMPANY, set alongside Seneca Lake in Penn Yan, has been a family affair since the beginning. In 1973, Ann and John Martini began grape-growing in the Finger Lakes, providing New York wineries with their harvests. By 1990, they were creating their own wines as the Anthony Road Wine Company. Today, Ann and John’s four children, as well as their spouses and kids, oversee this labor of love. More than a quarter-century after the frst vines took root – with the winery celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020 – the joy of growing grapes and producing fne wines still motivates and excites the Martini family. General Manager Sarah Martini Eighmey shares more. Q. What characteristics define Anthony Road wines? Crisp, clean, with a bright acidity, a true representation of our soil, vineyards, and the Finger Lakes. Q. Most popular selections? Riesling, Rosé, and our Grey Series, where we use a forgotten method of white grape vinifcation to EVENTS extract different flavors, aromas and structure compounds within small production lots of wines. Q. Can you provide insight on the Finger Lakes Teaching & Demonstration Vineyard? This is a 2.5 acre vineyard on our site operated by the Finger Lakes Grape Program (FLGP)—a regional agriculture extension program of Cornell University Cooperative Extension. FLGP and the Viticulture and Wine Technology Program at Finger Lakes Community College use the site to conduct applied research projects, demonstrations, and education. Q. How do weather patterns impact the grape harvest? No two harvests are the same, largely due to weather, and our crop size can vary by as much as 50% from one year to the next. Our cooler climate overall provides the nice, bright acidity that is characteristic to wines of the Finger Lakes. Q. Upcoming events? June through August, our “Third Thursdays” take place, with live music and food trucks, and our “Sunday Suppers” are the frst Sunday of every month, featuring a local chef. Other events include our Twilight 5k on August 9, and the Annual Federweisser Festival on September 21.
